Dear Janet,

I am so sorry about your cat. Cats own special places in our heart. You

didn't loose the fight, you won because you had so many years of friendship. I

am very proud of you for taking your cat to the vet, you are doing the last

part of your commitment to the friendship you and your cat have together.

The vet will be gentle and caring for your friend, not like the pound who have

so many animals to take care of. My husband and I are adamant that if you

have this relationship to an animal you must make the commitment to take care

of them in the end that is respectful and humane. You are a very good cat Mom

and my heart and tears and prayers go out to you.

Janet, you're in my thoughts......I lost my 17 year old cat 2 years ago and

miss her still.

When you're ready, there are so many homeless animals that need a loving

family.

I am so sorry you have to put your pet down and I know only too well how you

must feel. We had to put our wonderful dog to sleep almost two years ago and we

still miss her. We are so thankful we had her for 14 years. My thoughts will be

with you

Janet, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I never had to a cat down but did have two die on me. The first was my

16 yr siamese who died of kidney disease. The second was a 2 yr cat

that developed liver disease, became jaundice and emaciated before she

died. Being a cat lover, loosing one is very hard for me.

Hi Janet,

No, I couldn't do what you have to go through. I don't think I would

have agreed to that when my two were sick. The oldest went quick but

the younger one was really hard to deal with.

Jan, when I had to have my Sophie put to sleep, I felt so guilty and

thought - " What right do I have to play God? " But I realized it was the

best thing for her and I was just trying to make myself feel better. It

actually broke my heart to see her sick. Even the vet told me that she knew

it was time - she refused to eat and he actually called her adamant about

it. He said she was trying to tell us something.

It's been almost 2 years and I'm crying as I write this........my heart

aches for you.

Dear Janet,

I haven't been able to keep up with the group very well lately.

Consequently, I'm late in sending my condolences to you. My beloved

15-year-old canine companion died in February, and I truly understand

how deeply it hurts. For myself, though, alternating with the sadness

are happy images of his spirit romping joyously, free of the old body

that was restricting him in the last year of his life.
