I use my Nordictrack at home. It is a skiing motion and easy on the joints.

It is especially good for my shoulders since I seem to have troubles with them.

I will be swimming at least once a week while my kids do their lessons.

I would like to know what the majority of people in the group with RA

do for exercise and diet? Any tips would be a great help. Thank you

I try to make it to the gym 3-4 times a week. I use the stair master

and elliptical machines. (I do the stair master on a pretty low

setting and only for 10 mins.) Then I get on the elliptical for 20-30

minutes.

I also am doing some light weight training for my arms using

dumbbells. I only do this about two times a week.

This has been my routine since May of this year, and it's really helping!

Good luck-

dordale :)

Even though I don't have RA, I do have fibro, still try to exercise

several times a week. I alternate between elliptical crosstrainer and

treadmill. There is also a Cybex crosstrainer that I use. For

flexibility and strength I take yoga twice a week. Also do light weight

training.

I use light weights (1-5 lbs) three times a week and a rowing

machine four days a week. We already owned the rowing machine so it

was a no brainer. Actually I've read that ski trainers are good as

low impact but weight bearing exercise. May try one if Iget the

chance. My sis-in-law was told not to use free weights but to use

the ones on machines..she wasn't sure why but she goes to the gym

everyother day..I still exercise at home.

Hi Everyone,

I had to stop exercise as I can only use my arms, using pulley's and

therabands became just too hard on my hands/wrists/arms. Now I have

a muscle stimulator, I put electrodes on my muscles and the muscles

get a workout but not my joints. It helps for my paralyzed legs/

abdomen/back too.

My hands get a good workout with the clay and jewelry work I do.
