Guest guest
Darlene, I am not going to be very helpful. When I started Plaquenil, I was also taking methotrexate, and it had me wiped out all the time. It took awhile for the Plaquenil to work, but I really noticed a difference, once it kicked in. I hope you have good results, Tawny --- In , " Darlene Ashcraft " <luvtoknit@...> wrote: > > I started taking plaquenil yesterday and ever since then I have been totally > exhausted. Guest guest
Thanks Tawny... I have a feeling it's the med that's making me so wiped out. I just wasn't sure. Guest guest
beth, look at your 'tiredness' in a different context. At least now you have an excuse! ;?} Dennis [ ] Re: plaquenil > Plaquenil takes a long time to kick in, give it some time and then > decide. Guest guest
I'm new to the group also. I have had RA for 17 years and have been on Plaquenil for about 15 of them. It is a wonder drug for me. Becky in KY
Guest guest
Hi Dede! Thanks so much for telling me this. I read side effects and I automatically freak out. I'm not a weirdo I promise LOL I just always think I'm going to be one of the rare cases that's going to have a problem. Like I said, for the longest time all I ever took was motrin and allergy meds & multi vitamins. Now I have a handful of pills at night, and I am feeling funky anyway from the 2 new ones, I'm wondering how long these side effects last, the restlessness (not from PQ) and the appetite loss. Any idea how long? Whit edgetexlady <rbright@...> wrote: Whitney, I've been on plaquenil since 1990. I used to have to have the Field Vision test every six months, now it's only twice a year. When I lived in Austin I asked the technician who did the testing if she'd ever had someone whose vision was affected. She said in over 12 years she'd only come across three or four. And once they stopped taking plaquenil the negative effects were reversed. Now it's OK to have the test once a year. I used to worry about it all the time. I have a new eye doc now (I moved) and all tests are fine. After almost 17 years on plaquenil I've sort of stopped worrying about it. I keep my appointments with my docs -- have the regular testing, etc. The point of tests (blood tests, eye tests, pap smears) is early detection of any changes that may come. It's funny, it seems after everything I've been through this past year (car wreck, car totalled, Mom has stroke and on and on) worrying about what the test MIGHT reveal is something I've chosen not to do any more. All I can cope with is what's in front of me. Relax, breathe deep, drink water, and try not to stress! Guest guest
I used to take plaquenil, and I had stomach effects every time. Especially when I took two a day. It was still worth it because it did work, althoguh it took a few months to kick in. I couldn't use methotrexate because I had been planning pregnancy sometime in the future, plus I have a fairly mild case. I just tried changing the times of day I took it , trying before or after meals, and if I was going out I took a pepto bevfore hand. Interestingly, although I wondered at the time if it was working, since I am now trying to get pregnant and nopt taking anything, my pain and swelling has gotten much worse, so I guess it was the plaq. My fingers would still hurt in the morning, but it wouldnt last very long, and I never had knee pain unless I was really doing a ton of walking.
