Guest guest
dear , You don't seem to understand the situation that the saline women are in, first of all saline implants are approved by the FDA now for implantation in the US. Also at the time I got mine they weren't yet approved, however when you agree to a cosmetic surgery of this nature there are things that you agree to, and I did agree to them, that was the chance I took, I consented(after the fact though) that I would allow these things into my body and that I would accept the unknown risks, it is so much different than the implants 20 years ago, the situation is completely different, I don't know many saline women who got explanted with insurance paying for it, so they are not going to pay for my analysis or anything related to implants. It is all on my shoulders. I tried but there was no way they would pay it, I had an HMO in Ca at the time of explant and they said there is no way the implants were the cause or could be shown to be the cause of my health issues, also there was no Dr who would say they were, in fact I had no diagnosis, all I had was a slightly elevated ANA titer, hardly enough to say that I had implant illness. I had everything against me. So unlike the silicone gel women us saline women really kind of got a raw deal here because we were led to believe that these implants now were safer and more improved, ha not the case is it. So anyhow not to sound too angry here, but it is very frustrating to me that this situation has financially fallen on my shoulders I have spent over $16,000 bucks on this issue and it still is unresolved. Well that is also part of why I never did send the implants for analyzing till recently because quite frankly I couldn't afford it. Hope I don't seem to angry but this aspect of this nightmare is very sickening to me. Guest guest
Angelika, What health insurance do you have? Because more and more insurance compaies are paying for explant; however you may need to argue and appeal decisions, but in the end, they always back down. I know you already had your explant, but you may be able to recoup some of the cost of the surgery if you pursue it. I will be getting back to you soon about the info you faxed me. Please let me know if you would like me to help you with the insurance issue. It is one of my specialty areas. I also have some resources that may be helpful to you. Talk to you soon. e >From: " Angelika " <angmattoni@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: Re: Pathology reports >Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2002 17:33:03 -0500 > >I have insurance and my insurance won't pay a dime for anything directly >related to the implants > >----- Original Message ----- >From: <ShihtzusRock@...> >< > >Sent: Thursday, February 21, 2002 8:05 AM >Subject: Pathology reports > > > > Ladies: > > > > I have my path. reports form my explantation & it gives detailed, very > > detailed info. on condition of implant & capsule. Guest guest
, United Healthcare is one of the best organizations out there in my opinion. They got a bad rap back in the mid 90's when they were so strict in everything they did. Then finally, in 1998, they made the mind boggling decision not ever before seen to allow its members more freedom, which included seeing specialists without a referral, and reimbursing for more procedures. Every time I have worked with them they have been just wonderful. And actually, in my own opinion and personal experience, I would rather have an HMO anyday than a PPO. The PPO's nickel and dime you for everything and while you have more freedom as far as being able to see more docs, the coverage usually isn't that great. I had BC/BS last fall, and everytime I saw a doc, they sent me a long form in the mail with all of these questions to answer about whether I'd ever been treated for this particular problem before, etc. The insurance I have now is Great West and sucks!! It is a 70/30 plan, and just plain sucks. All my health insurance plans prior to these 2 were HMO's and I NEVER had a hard time getting them to cover anything, including my explant. I did have to appeal the explant, because they initially denied it, but I took everything a step further and made waves. I finally was assigned someone to my case who was very empathetic and she worked hard for me to get the explant paid for. e >From: ShihtzusRock@... >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Pathology reports >Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2002 17:57:08 -0600 (CST) > >I had United Heathcare HMO at time of my explant.
