Guest guest
No Debbie, I have never been intolerant to cold since day one. Now the cold bothers my Raynaud's Disease but mostly my hands. The day I was dx'd with hypothyroidism my Endochrinologist told me the Pituitary gland was effecting my Thyroid and I inherited it from someone in my family. I have to agree with him because my younger brother now has Hypothyroidism. In my case the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus, and the thyroid are all effected. The hypothalamus controls your body heat. And oh I can tell it. Just this year my TSH has dropped low and I have lost 26 pounds just within the last 6 months. I mentioned to my Dr that I had lost 16 pounds this past June but at that time I was coming down with Pancreatis and was admitted to the hospital. I'm still loosing weight since coming home. I'm going to go back to my Dr soon because I believe he will change my medicine. I would appreciate it if you would find symptoms of hyperthyroidism. To my knowledge I don't have it because I'm not nervous or edgy although I have lost a lot of weight. I can now wear clothes that use to be to tight on me. I knew I was saving those pants for some reason. Even my son noticed it and you know how men are, they don't notice anything. (Sorry guys just teasing) When my Raynauds bothers me my hands will get icy cold then turn to a blanch color to a red, a purple, back to a blanch then back to normal. And is very pain through the whole process. I run tepid water over my hands during this time. I haven't had problems with my hands in quite awhile because I try hard not to expose them to the cold. My Dr told me once that it could run into gangrene. Thank you much, Joyce [ ] Re: Pain in cold weather Joyce Hi Joyce, Not to doubt you, but shouldn't you been intolerant to cold since you have hypothyroidism? I sure was when I was that way. Now that I have HYPERthyroidism I am very heat intolerant. If you want I will find symptoms of each for you. Since I have thyroid cancer I have a better understanding of it. When my hands get hot they turn bright red. That's part of my Raynaud's. Maybe you have a more severe case of it. You should talk to your doctors about it. warm hugs, Debbie L
