Guest guest
I think that Kathe is talking about me here. I was on methotrexate first, and it kept lowering my white cell count. I was then switched to Arava, and the white cell count continued its decline. That was too bad, as the Arava really helped my RA a lot. I don't know what the outcome would have been if I hadn't already been on mtx. We all react differently to medications, that's for sure. Your doctor will monitor you with frequent blood work, so that if your WBC count continues to decline, you can stop the Arava. It has taken mine a long time to recover, so I wonder if something else was going on with me. I did have 35 radiation treatments following breast cancer surgery and continued taking mtx during this time. I've always wondered if this had some effect. Let us know how it goes.
