Guest guest
One thing I forgot to mention earlier is that since we have Part D, we no longer qualify for the free programs from the manufacturers. I can't get Fosamax now because of it, and can't afford the co-pay through any programs I've found. Guest guest
So if you don't pay for the Part D, do you still qualify for the free programs? Guest guest
The problem about not taking Part D is you will be penalized if you don't take it. It is suppose to be a free program but it's not. Sure don't like Bush and Company. Joyce from Texas Re: [ ] Re: Part D So if you don't pay for the Part D, do you still qualify for the free programs? Guest guest
From what I've seen, the pharmaceuticals have a blanket policy that if a person has any kind of prescription coverage, he/she is ineligible for assistance. This may not be true in all cases, so you need to check for yourself. And here in Texas, we are reminded regularly that any state spent moneys through Medicaid will be taken from our estate. I guess I won't have to worry about that since I've only received a food stamp card worth $10 per month and haven't even wasted my time using it. Guest guest
I don't understand the thinking myself. If I were eligible but joined late, I would be penalized for the rest of my life! I don't care for Bush, myself. The big reason he went into Iraq was for 'Daddy' since he (Sr.) couldn't do it himself. 9-11 did have something to do with it, but not much. He is a powerful leader though, and did what Hillary Clinton couldn't get done. She seemed to have tried hard to help us with health care, but didn't have the clout to solve the right problems. I'm happy I have Part D, but my kids may not like it by the time they get older and need the same thing. Guest guest
Let's NOT make this political. Part D has nothing to do with the war in Iraq. I personally didn't pay attentions to Part D because I am so far from it (I'm 38). But it does affect my parents, so I should have paid attention. My question if everyone wants to make this political AARP is the big lobby group for those of you in that age category. What did they do? If this plan is bad(not saying it isn't), did they do anything to fight it? If you want your voice to be heard then write your legislator, tell them what this plan has done for you(or not done). Both political parties have pass legislation or programs that are feel good, looks great on paper but hurts more than it helps. But they all look great on TV. I don't care party you are with, but make your voice heard. It doesn't mean instant change. Kate At 09:25 AM 1/16/2007, you wrote: >I don't understand the thinking myself. Guest guest
Dennis, he also went for the oil. The Iraq government has almost got papers signed into law that the Americans will take over the biggest marjority of the oil. That's the real reason we are there, the oil. We won't be leaving Iraq anywhere soon. The Americans have built a New Embassy the size of the Vatican City over there. You should see that thing. It is made like a fortress. They have built the walls to withstand bombing they said. The walls must be pretty thick from the way they talk. Plus there are four large American Bases over there. I'll always believe 9/11 happened for the oil. They needed another Pearl Harbor. And what I've read in the archives, Pearl Harbor wasn't and accident either. Now Bush is trying to push Iran into a war by bombing some kind of little building and capturing five Iranian. He said he is a War President. I think he likes the name. I read an article this morning where he is daring the Democrats to try to stop him from sending troops over there. He has more power than any other president in the history of the U.S. and needs to be impeached now more than anything. They need to get him out of office or he'll ruin this country. More than 1,000,000 people are in need since he has become president and our deficient is up in the trillions. Much, much more than it was when he went into office. I don't care a thing about him. When he was governer in Texas, he left leaving us with more than a two billion dollar deficient and they say we are still trying to recover from it. I read an article recently where an old Major General in the WW1 era wrote that War is a Racket. He is so right. Rich people get richer and the poor send their sons and daughters off to war. You can type in search, War is a Racket, and read the article. I may as well say something else I read this morning. The wealthy people in NYC wants the war to continue. Sorry folks, I know this is off topic but I really needed to say it. I am so angry about this war. The rich is making gobs of money off of it. Guest guest
I read a short time ago that the rich people runs the government...Joyce [ ] Re: Part D The only way this government is going to take care at giving us a REAL healthcare system is if THEY have to go it. We should be allowed to vote their healthcare, their raise, and their pension. Instead, THEY vote for US and we get screwed. It doesn't matter who is in office, they are all looking out for each other...Marina > > Joyce, > > It's doesn't matter who is in office, it's all feel good legislation. Guest guest
I've seen and heard many questions from reporters and politicians about the " donut hole " and nobody has explained it yet. I don't remember hearing anything from AARP, but I'm sure they were in on it enough to understand it, I hope. Personally, I can't see AARP doing me any good except for the lobbying. Any program they offer, such as car insurance, life insurance, travel and lodging, I can do better using the local phone book. They use the businesses that donate the most to them. But, this is getting even more political so I'll shut up about it. Kate, I will say, don't trust someone else to solve your problems, and be happy if you or your family members can get the Part D or it's equivalent. All our elders need a little help once in a while, so see what they need. They'll appreciate it, I'm sure. Guest guest
Toni, do you mean Texas made the family sell everything because the lady had Part D and they wanted their money back? Just wondering because I have Part D and own a brick home I want my son to get.......Joyce [ ] Re: Part D Dennis, You know I have heard where they made a local lady here in Texas. She died and the state took everything. Made her family sell of her old raggy trailerhouse and any other real property to get back what they had spent on her. I have heard from many seniors...when they reach the point they transfer everything into a family members name...and then pay rent to that person at least on paper so there is NOTHING to take upon there death. Some even pre-pay for all funeral costs and have very little if any life insurance...just enough to cover final expenses....just so the government can not take everything. Its sad that people have to resort to such measures. I say they need to start garnishing wages and taking back all the welfare money spent on all these unwed teenage mothers...my hubby has family that is 3 and 4 generation welfare because its easier to get a check than get out and work.
