Guest guest
Oklahoma State has a wonderful directory of cattle breeds and their features. Type cattlebreeds into your browser. Also horses, pigs and goats. The original ancestor of the European cattle, Bos tarus, were the Aurochs, 2 meters high at the sholder, two tons not uncommon in large bulls. Cows seldom went over 1500 but they were MEAN. The last one was killed in the Black Forest in the 1600s. Bos indicus, Brahman etc were from a different gene pool. Never were as big, have sweat glands and do not marble well. Selective breeding is as old as recorded history, mentioned in the Bible, Hamaurabi's Code, the Gilgahmesh epic.
