Guest guest
Kerry, I think you hit the nail right on the head. This is a very sore subject for those without healthcare. I know people complain about England and Canada and their socialized medicine system...but at least they have healthcare...its better than what we have here...though at times I have been told the system is slow. There are two states I have been told has a semi-socialized medicine type system. NYC and Hawaii. Having lived in Hawaii...all employers are required to offer healthcare or there employees can use the state insurance. Which by the way was really good back in 97' when I lived there. The system was not perfect...but better than nothing. It is sad. I know some people dispite the law still give there meds away. The really sad part is that they take expired meds and supplies and the overseas missions use them all the time. Of that $2,600 I pay about $80 for that I am so grateful and feel for those who don't have the coverage. It makes me angry to hear that people who need basic health care (like living without pain) can't even get it because they can't afford it. Why is it business's authority to decide who should live and who should die? It frustrates me to no end... Sitting here atop my desk I have vials of MTX and bottles of Arava that I can't take anymore, they could go to someone who needs them, but thats illegal, I'm supposed to throw them away... Guest guest
When I had meds I couldn't take, I would take them to the doctor's office and drop them off so they could give them to those that need them. Apparently that is acceptable because I was asked by the doc about doing that. It's better than throwing them away. Cassy I sat down to figure out the prices of the meds that I am on and the grand total of all of them came to about $2,600/ month.
