That's terrible.

Don't the doctors give you something for pain?

Pain meds might help, but looking for the right car is the secret. I don't

know what your requirements are, but I look for a vehicle I don't have to

get UP out of it. That's so important because of the problems of being stiff

after staying relatively still for an extended time. Also, automatic, power

assist, easy reach are all important in my opinion. That's the main reason I

chose the motorcycle and a minivan, except for the 'hobby' cars, like the

drag car, that keeps me younger. I hope you can resume your search without

too much pain and can find the exact one you want.

cars? I love cars and had just gotten a stick shift 5 speed I had wanted when

my RA hit hard and fast. I could not manage it at all, and gave it to my

husband and then I wound up with my scooter, and with 3 kids, yuk, ...I test

drove mini vans, but cried everytime I drove one. But I had to have room for

the kids and my scooter.

I wound up with a DUrango and I love it still, even after 5 years. I do hafta

climb up into it but, the doors open and it is so wide in the entrance way, it

helps a lot,

shortly after my husband wrecked my stick shift car :-( but then he got a jeep.

I love the Jeep BUT lots of days I cannot get in and out of it, the doors are

smaller and the way to get in is strange, where your feet come in....I catch my

feet on it all the time. I like riding in it when the top and sides are off but

it really is hard for me to get in it. My DUrango has a running board, and

while it is high up kind of, - I use the hand grab thingie and the running board

and it is actually easier for me than my car used to be. How I cried when I

could not drive my stick shift anymore, but my wrists thumbs hands fingers,

knees and feet just would not handle it.

Thanks Dennis for your concern. I do take ultracet for pain, but am in a flare

(seems never ending), also I have OA quite bad in knees and ankles, and am

allergic to most of the typical OA meds like Mobic, and celibrex.... So some

days it just hurts. I did however buy a car today, but you are right I had some

strange things that were requirements for a car, such as the actual height of

the car ( getting in and out) the width of the doors, and power seats, I have

discovered I love power seats. So today after two weeks of pretty much daily

looking I bout a Chevy Impala, and am very happy about it. in WI

OH, NO!! Not a Ch---, uh--, C... I just can't say it. ;) I'm a Ford person

and have about 15 of them in various stages of repair/rebuild. Anyhow, I'm

glad you found the one that works for you. As you go along, I'm sure you'll

fall in love with other " auto/power " accessories. Now, I'm looking at how to

retrofit some of those luxuries in my older cars when I wouldn't have

considered before. Time and suffering changes the strongest of minds. LOL
