Guest guest
Hmmm, that is so strange because my BIL has ulcerative colitis and his dad had Crohn's and they both took Prednisone to help control their bowel movements and rectal bleeding, so, yeah, maybe it is something to think about. Did it stop when you stopped the Prednisone? I mean that would say a lot. I am on 10 mg a day of Prednisone. Tracie > > We, my doctor and I, assumed mine was the result of the Pred, not MTX. Guest guest
The only thing that stopped the bleeding was surgery. I've been taking 10 mg of Prednisone per day since 1990, sometimes more as I need the boost. For me, it doesn't stay in my body long enough for me to take just one dose, I have to take 5 at breakfast and 5 at supper. Otherwise, I'll be suffering before the next dose. I don't understand what all Prednisone is used for, but for me is to relieve the pain of the RA and FM. Anything else is incidental. It's strange, my skin is soft and easy to tear, and easy to bruise because of the continued use of it. Maybe that's the key, " continued " . I dunno.... Oh yeah, you might examine your stools There could be blood on one side of it if the bleeding is coming from up in the colon. That's where mine was, and I didn't notice until the colonoscopy found it. Guest guest
Dennis, Thanks for the response. I have been on the dose of Prednisone for two years or so now straight, sometimes at a much higher dose depending on my flares and when I had the pneumonia. I will watch my stools (ewwww, the stuff we have to do), but I am pretty darn certain it is the hemorrhoid. I might have to have it removed. As for a colonoscopy, I had a negative one less than two years ago so I am not worried about my lower GI tract. However, I do worry about ulcers and I am on Nexium as it is right now every day. I will definitely bring this all up when I see my GP just to be safe. It seems like you fix one problem and something else acts up huh? Never a dull moment that is for sure! Take care of yourself.
