I have it in my clavicular (sp?) joint close to my neck. It hurt very bad

until I started Arava a few years ago. Even showed up on my MRI.

For the past three days, I've had pain in my neck, shoulder and back that is

triggering

headaches. I've had this in the past and honestly, can never find a cause for it

such as

overdoing, sleeping funny, etc. I call it the " chicken and the egg " headache,

because

sometimes the headache triggers muscle spasms, sometimes the muscle spasms

trigger

the migraine-like headache.

Here's my question. With RA, can you experience pain from joints in the neck,

shoulder,

back region?

Many thanks,

Hi Paige,

Yes I have it in my shoulder, neck and chest, I didn't know you could get

it in your chest, but the first day at my RA doctor he found it in my shoulders

first then my feet, ankles and hands. But it took me having an ER visit to find

out I have RA in my chest. I just looked at my doctor " My chest pain is RA? "

Yes he said then pushed on my chest and boy I almost feel to the ground.

Hang in there Paige if it gets worse call you RA doctor.

Hi Paige,

I certainly do. Actually my shoulder joints are almost the worst affected.

Sorry probably not the news you wanted to hear. Hope you're feeling better

soon.

a.. Yes, RA can effect any joint and it seems any organ or muscle according to

my DR. I had light chest pains but had read that people who are taking a lot of

sedatives such as we with RA, should have the heart checked to find if their is

an *existing* problem.

b.. Light exercises, very warm baths, (a hot shower directly on the neck is

good to me!) light massages, and I use ginger root tinctured in rubbing alcohol

and just a tiny teeny bit of cayenne to give a tiny bit of added heat. Like

anything, else there are those who are allergic to it, but it seems to help me.

The warm up type of exercises are good if your RA is too far progressed to do

aerobics or jogging. This is what my DR says, but check with yours before trying

any of this.

c.. I don't think anyone should use a vibrator on the neck or head, least not

at my age<G>
