Guest guest Posted April 17, 2010 Report Share Posted April 17, 2010 Right, I may just add that ESR is also an inflammation marker, I think one main difference between CRP and ESR is that CRP is more responsive to short term changes in inflammation. I remember that in a follow-up exam after a flair of ulcerative colitis, my daughter's CRP had decreased to normal, whereas the ESR was still high. The physician explained that it would take some time for the ESR to go down. My conclusion, CRP is a better short - term indicator.
