Guest guest
I joined this group about a week ago. I have read everything that has been posted since then and have gotten some wonderful information. I was diagnosed with RA a year ago. By the time they figured out what was really wrong with me, I could barely walk, could not tie my own shoes, and could get up without help from my children. Today, I can do all the above without help. My hands still do not work like they used to and neither do my knees. I am just so grateful to be able to walk that I will deal with the other. I have heard that certain things you eat can trigger a flare up of RA. Can anyone tell me if this is true or false? If it is true what kinds of food should I be eating. When I was first diagnosed, the medicine made me so sick that I lost 50 lbs (which I needed to lose). Thanks for listening, Vicky
Guest guest
--Vicky, I have no idea if there is any truth to this...except that I feel worse if I run out and do not drink them for a few days until I can get to the store again..or if my stomach is giving me trouble and I can't keep them down......but I try and drink pineapple juice every morning because both my mother and grandmother who also had RA swore it made it better, and also pure cherry juice as a friend with RA also swears by it....so every day I have a full glass. You have to go the health food store or the health isle in the grocery store...and read the label to get 100% cherry juice...not 100% juice (they will put apple in it if you aren't reading the label.) Also I drank noni juice for awhile because I heard on tv that it was very good for RA/Oa...but with that I really didn't see much of an improvenment so I stopped taking it. I was taking Glucosmine/Chrointin/MSM every day and thought that it was working...but ran out and haven't been back to the warehouse store to get more....and I think that I can tell a difference in my hands and wrists, so I will start taking that again as soon as I can get some. ANd I have read some articles that say that the combination is good for OA/RA. As for foods...I have been on Placquenel and MTX for the last year, and both made me very sick , I was even hospitalized because of it for dehydration...so food it not my favorite thing right now.I have to force myelf to eat something even though I am off them and waiting to start Humera when the results of my chest xray are in. I am still eating very carefully and sticking to a lot of peanut butter as it is protein and for some reason I can keep it down, and instant breakfast, jello and diet 7up. That is pretty much all I am eating right now...and have been for months. Maybe someone else can help you with foods that will help...........jenna - In , " mommy3girls2004 " <mommy3girls2004@...> wrote: > > I joined this group about a week ago. Guest guest
Actually, I heard that it has to be Tart Cherry Juice. I get it from a Kroger's store that has a good health food departement, and it must be refridgerated. The brand that I drink is called Brownwood Acres. Just my 2 cents, --- siofra520 <siofra520@...> wrote: > --Vicky, > I have no idea if there is any truth to > this...except that I feel > worse if I run out and do not drink them for a few > days until I can > get to the store again..or if my stomach is giving > me trouble and I > can't keep them down......but I try and drink > pineapple juice every > morning because both my mother and grandmother who > also had RA swore > it made it better, and also pure cherry juice as a > friend with RA > also swears by it....so every day I have a full > glass.
