Currently I'm on MTX and functioning fairly well. My rheumy wants me to go on one of the biologics though. I still have swelling in fingers, wrists, feet and ankles. And my rheumy wants to add Enbrel because since I have swelling, my joints are being damaged. I've been hesitant to add a biologic (Enbrel) because of the risks, etc. A poster in another forum I belong to (at www.arthritis.org) posted this link: http://www.arthritis-research.org/Newsletters/july2006.pdf It's a newsletter put out by the National Data Bank for Rheumatic Diseases. It has an article about the benefits and risks of medications and their side effects. It addresses the Remicade/Humira issue specifically. I finally made my decision today...after pondering it for about two weeks. I don't want joint damage if I can help it! (I already have very small erosions in some of my fingers.) I called my rheumy's office and the nurse there is going to begin processing the paperwork necessary to get me started on Enbrel. So, as long as I get approval from the insurance company, I'll be starting Enbrel. It feels like such a big step! Good luck with your decision-- dordale
