Guest guest
I've been having a mess of a time with the script for my MS Contin, as some of you remember. I finally got the new refill after being out completely for over 2 weeks but hadn't taken one until tonight. I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms or even not much pain until today. Most of the time I can't tell that it's working because I have no side effects. The pain doc I saw last week said it didn't look like I was taking Morphine since there was nothing in my eyes or other clues, and he should know. Yesterday, I felt teriffic, like there was no RA, but I got slammed back to reality in a hurry. I was outside this morning getting ready to head for the hospital for blood tests when my A-Fib started again. This time I didn't go to the hospital, I just climbed into my recliner with a big glass of water and it went back to normal after about 3 hours, good as new. Guest guest
It's proper name is Atrial Fibrillation and is a relatively rare condition where the lower half of the heart is beating like clockwork, but the top half of the heart is fluttering instead of pumping. If blood stays in the Atria flong enough, a clot can form and cause a stroke, so it's not something to fool with. According to the doctors, it's unusual for the patient to be able to tell that it's happening. I'm one of the (un) lucky ones that knows it's happening. RA, in a roundabout way, did cause my A-Fib. When I had the really bad pain of inflammation around the Sciatic nerve in my back. I couldn't get relief and couldn't see a pain specialist for 3 months, so I took it upon myself to get relief. My daughter helped me make a spine-stretcher using a step ladder to lean over and stretch my lower back to relieve some of the pressure. I then found that extra Prednisone helped reduce the inflammation, so by the time I was to see the Pain doc, I was temporarily " cured " . The doctor didn't even look at me, but said to keep taking that Pred since it's working, and walked out the door. Prednisone is known to cause onset A-Fib, which is my plight now. If I'm careful and listen to my heart and body I can tell what's happening and hopefully be OK. Guest guest
Oh joy! Another 'rarity' for me. I always felt it, but thought it was paplitations, until it happened in the hospital when they were going to do a liver biopsy. They cancelled the biopsy and admitted me to the cardiac unit. I'm sure it was fear that brought it on that time.
