Guest guest
Blair, I also used to get Organic Pastures " pet food " too. They sold it at Food Front and The People's Co-op. It was hard to find in stock, so I placed special orders each and every week to make sure I got my supply. But Mark McAfee, the owner of Organic Pastures, was issued a cease and desist letter from the Oregon Department of Agriculture after the Dee Creek farm incident and had to stop shipping into Oregon. Unfortunately, realmilk.com has not updated their " What's Happening " web page to reflect that change. The local distributors are fighting that and hope to get it reintroduced. I use Meyenberg brand goats milk because it has no hormones and being goats milk, it is not homogenized. But organic milk is just as damaged by pasteurization as non-organic milk is. Tillamook is a great brand. For pasteurized products, they are among the best. Coombes Beaverton, OR Finding raw milk My sister lives in Portland, and she used to get Organic Pastures milk 'for pets only' at her grocery store. Hard to find in stock tho. Oregon also sells unhomogenized goat milk; widely available. Better than P/H swill? Altho - Tillamook Farms announced they were dropping hormones, and even organic P/H milk in Washington/Oregon has got to be better than organic milk in Colorado...we have grass about 6 months a year, and that's stretching it. The New Yorker Magazine had a 'talk of the town' blurb about the surrepticious gatherings of raw-milk drinkers, picking up their milk driven into NYC and dropped off at some-one's house under cover of darkness... There ARE co-ops in NYC; and you don't have to drive for hours. Hoping one of our NYC members speaks up here... Best of luck and keep your eyes on the prize. It's like any hunting; a trained eye will find them. -Blair
