Guest guest
Hi All.... I'm new here but I've been reading the posts for about a week. Jane, I also got my results back today and they came up negative. My Dr. said maybe viral arthritis. My mother was dx with RA this past year and I have a cousin who has it. Mom's original test came back negative. I started with right shoulder pain at Thanksgiving, ankle pain at Christmas and then a rapid spread to the left shoulder, right wrist, and both hips. The muscles in my thighs also hurt and some in the lower back but I figured that might be from limping and straining to get up when I'm sitting down. I had a total knee replacement last summer (and have the other scheduled for next summer) so I initially called my ortho. He called in a prescription of Artrotec 75 which didn't touch it (I took it for ten days). When I went to my GP on Friday he did the blood work and put me on a prednisone reduction pack for 5 days. That worked although the ankle and shoulder didn't go completely pain free. I finished the pack yesterday and the pain seems to be returning, I'm hurting some in all joints this morning. Actually it felt like it was returning on Tuesday when I returned to school after the three day weekend, but I thought that might just be the results of being up all day again. Any ideas? Does this sound like RA? No pain in the hands or fingers.... Thanks for any comments, Jim Ocean Springs, Mississippi (High School Economics and Law teacher) [ ] Completely Seronegative Inflammatory Arthritis? I went back to the Dr 2day. He says all my test come up neg. But I have Inflammatory Arthritis. He says he has the same problem. He wasn't much help in telling me what he meant by gentle exercise, and " The most important thing is don't overdo it. " What is overdoing it. He says if it hurts, dont, but if I did that, Id never do a thing. Can I get a translation? On the upside, he listened, and didn't blow me off like it was all in my head. I think he's really just at a loss.I don't know, but if anybody has an idea or suggestion, by all means, send me a clue. Thanks, Jane
Guest guest
Jim, this doesn't sound like RA, but it does sound like some other form of inflammatory arthrits. Ra is usually bilaterally equal, from what I gather. My Dr believes that this will eventually show up in my blood. Good luck. Have they done ANA screen for you? If you have insurance, I suggest seeing a Rhuematologist. I don't have ins, and it is way out of my price range. Go see a Rheumy, to be safe. LUCK! Jane Jim Zipperer <zzip@...> wrote: Hi All.... Guest guest
I don't know where you love, but here in WI on public TV there is a gentle exercises program called Sit And Be Fit, the do mostly range of motion things and everything is done sitting down, and there are two levels of exercises to follow. My Rheumy recommended this program to me. in WI mtbargeman30 <mtbargeman30@...> wrote: I went back to the Dr 2day. He says all my test come up neg. But I have Inflammatory Arthritis. Guest guest
My RA started out just like Jim's: moving about from joint to joint, and not bilateral at all. At one point, the only visible sign I had was one swollen finger. Jim, I would also advise you to see a rheumatologist. They know what else to look for besides the lab results. Guest guest
Welcome, Jim! Sorry you are hurting and wondering what is going on. What tests did you have? Have they done any imaging of the joints that are bothering you? When they replaced your knee, were there any clues then? Not an MD I'll tell you where to go!
