>>> I have just started the pep enzymes last week and i have a

couple of questions; both of my boys (1 dx pdd, 1 undx, sensory

issues) seem so happy, does this mean anything???

The Happy Child Effect strikes again! I consider this good. This

effect has been reported from the very beginning of HNI enzymes and

is so designated.

>>>the pdd kid is talking ALOT more....its only been a week, is

> this my imagination??

Most likely not your imagination...do you consider this good or

annoying? LOL. Yes, it can happen even within a day or two. They may

simply not be feeling as badly as before, so are much relieved,

happier, and chatty.

>>>can i sprinkle the pep on my kids lunches even if i make it

> the night before or that morning? will they still be effective?

This probably won't work if you put them on the night before. But

you can put enzymes on that morning. Enzymes will have about a 4

hour 'lifespan'. However, you would want to put them in something

that will not degrade the food. For example if you put them in

oatmeal you will have a mess at lunchtime, not oatmeal+enzymes.

There is a recipe for mixing enzymes in chocolate wafers, or you can

put them in a cold or half frozen drink in the morning. The enzymes

in the drink will still be good at lunch time. I will send you the

mixing suggestions file which has lots of ideas in it.

>>>and last one...i ditched the gfcf diet months ago, before

starting enzymes, has anyone else seen good results with

> enzymes even thou they are not/ or never have been gfcf??

We have been using enzymes and no food elimination (except for much

artificial stuff) for a year and a half now and it has been great.

There is also the trend that many people see better results when

they put casein and gluten back in the diet with enzymes than when

restricting those foods. There is no clear reason why but it

happens. Hopefully this will be your case too.

Are they " laughing at nothing " and silly, or are they happy?

Probably not.

In the morning, the lunch will be liquid. Not too appetising.

Many kids can do enzymes instead of gfcf, but many kids also need

gfcf. So it depends on your child.

I do not know about others but I have some damaged discs in lower back due

to age and wear, it is not due to my RA. Unfortunately the AP hasn " t helped

with these. When they make a Minocin therapy that reverses " Old Age " I am

going to be the first to sign up!!!! Martha

Hey to all,

I was having trouble with the anti-inflammatory I am taking. It is hard on my

stomach, so the dr suggested taking prilosec or pepto along with it. That helps

some, but I still have a hard time with it. Now I am having the same problem

with the methotrexate. Is this common?? Anyone else having trouble digesting

meds? I have been taking metx since Oct 10mg a week. It helps me, but now do I

have to worry about staying close to the bathroom????? Any help is appreciated,

thanks Peg

I had the same problems with the methotrexate. I have been on it twice, because

it does help my arthritis, but I just can't handle the stomach problems that

come with it. So, right nw I am not taking anything because I'm still trying to

get better from taking the mtx the last time.

Hi Peg. With all the inflammatory meds, they can be very hard on the stomache.

I developed esophigial and stomache erosions from them. I was put on protonix a

couple of years ago, and have been great ever since. Some things still bother me

a lil but not as much. Tell him The meds he told you to take are not helping

much with it, im sure he can offer other advice or meds to take. Take care..

Hi!

This is another topic we have a ton of archives on that prove- yes apraxia can

affect pretend play -but in a developmental way- so as we've seen in this group

don't let any professionals read too much into it -it's developmental in this

regard with apraxia - not disorder.

Subject: Re: Trish-socially engaging but still autistic???/perhaps

not -imagination

Hi Traci, and Trish and all!

About imagination...now this is long!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions that a young child with a

communication impairment has problems with imagination. Like

anything when you are fighting to keep your head above water so you

won't drown, it's hard to enjoy the beauty of the ocean. (yes I was

a lifeguard) In other words -when a child is struggling to

communicate basic needs, imagination may take a back seat. It may

be there, but needs to be encouraged out. Tanner today at 7 years

old is not at 'all' shy. If anything it amazes his teachers how

outgoing he is and not the least bit self conscious of the way he

speaks, even though he still has obvious speaking problems at

times. But...it wasn't always like that. Preschool age and pre -

knowledge age of what Tanner was dealing with -he actually would

withdraw around others and go into a shell. Tanner did well with

one on one playdates -not at all group. Tanner was never considered

autistic or PDD by any of the neurodevelopmental MDs or SLPs or OTs

or teachers that worked with him professionally. Nor was he ever

considered autistic by any lay people. There is a difference in

autism and apraxia -and differences in how to work with both

appropriately. Proper diagnosis of one or both is most important.

I find this to be a very important topic and very misunderstood even

by some professionals. So below is a three year archived history of

some tips we used to assist Tanner in developing a strong

imagination.

Here are some ways to do this that I posted when Tanner was 4
