Guest guest
: Thank you so much for such a wonderful post - I know that it will help not only the newer people here, but us oldies as well to reinforce the fact that life is not to be taken for granted, and we are blessed to be here, we need to treasure each day, and truly connect and listen to those we love. I am so sorry for your multiple diagnoses. And that doctor should be reported for telling you those terrible things in front of your child - I hope that the therapy is helping him - and the doctor should be paying for that too! But what a show of strength you have given them - you should be so proud of yourself for not giving up, and for fighting on. You are an inspiration to all of us. Guest guest
Kathe: Thank you for the kind words, and I am glad that you were able to read it and get something from it. I know that when we are having a tough time or newly diagnosed it VERY difficult to get to a point where you learn to mourn your old way of life and learn to embrace your new life and focus on the positive in it. For me, it took 18 months, for others it shorter or longer. All I can say is what I have been through, and I believe by sharing openly and honestly that others can benefit from it. I don't for one second feel sorry for myself at all. I could have terminal cancer and have been dead within weeks of being read the last diagnosis, but instead of being brain cancer/tumor, it was Vasculitis. Most would view that as a horrible thing, either way - but it took me hitting bottom to pick myself up and look around me and be thankful for all the GOOD in my life. No matter how bad someone has it, there is ALWAYS someone who has it much worse. I am truly thankful to be alive TODAY. I live day to day, and have made up a " To Do " list, and even accomplished some of it!!!! Every single time I get to cross an item off, I am adding a new one. I am happy for the first time in my 35 years of living, and truly believe that this is the path my life was meant to take, and I am not going to question that for one second. I am not an overly religious person at all, but have become more spiritual in the fact that I believe there is a plan for all of us. No matter what our circumstances, we have a choice to make the best of it or to wallow in self-pity about it. I felt sorry for myself for 18 months before I changed my way of thinking. I did learn from that experience, but sadly - it's 18 months that I was just EXISTING and not LIVING. Hug your kids, call your family/friends, and reach out to those you haven't spoken to in a while. Make sure to take the time to let those who've made a difference in your life that you appreciate them. in Canada - Who's very happy to be here right now. We don't know what tomorrow will bring, so live each and every moment to the fullest while you can.
