Guest guest
Bob, I too quit drinking diet soda's about six months ago. Though I haven't had the results that you have, I have seen some improvement in both my PA and my Fibro. Aspartame poisoning is very serious. The FDA seems to just ignore it. I hope that others who stop drinking diet soda's will also see results. I drink Diet RC which has Splenda but unlike Diet Rite Cola, it also has caffeine. I don't drink coffee so that is my only was to get any caffeine. Take care Sue

Guest guest
Yes, I have heard and know people who swear by this tea, D' Arco. I am taking Essiac and I don't know if it is recommended to keep mixing alot of these teas. I am confused about what to take and have and contuinue to talk to people who seem to be having some sucess. I was told to give one a three month try before changing. Guest guest
Is it caffeinated? It might be caffeine withdrawal. You can try cutting your use in half every few days, which might eliminate the caffeine withdrawal. HTH! -Olif
Guest guest
Hi Courtknee I have kicked the diet coke problem, and this is what I found. Firstly as you said, it is terribly addictive. Going cold turkey isnt the answer. The way I got off it is to substitute normal coke. this is a lot easier. Hving got onto normal coke, I was then able to kick the habit because normal coke doesnt have the same addictive aspect. I could guess that you probably had the same problem I did with diet coke. It erodes the intestinal lining leading to something called 'leaky gut syndrome' The permeability of the intestine is damaged and intestinal contents leak into the body causing all sorts of problems. It also leads to candida growing throughout the body rather than just remaining in the intestine. One third of a cup of good quality aloe vera juice will put a seal over the intestine in 3 days to stop leakage. Thisen you should start to feel better if thisis the problem. More importantly, the leakage is lidely to have led to lowered immunity and to other organisms developing. The Olive Leaf Extract will clear all this out. While the aloe vera juice puts a band-aid over the problem area of the intestine, L-glutamine taken at 3 times the normal dose over at least 3 months will go a long way to repairing the intestine. these other organisms growning inside you can be the cause of problems. Guest guest
Yeah I know that is really bad stuff, that's why I'm so concerned about quitting it. How did you wean yourself from the coffee? Was there anything that helped with the headaches (extra water, a supplement, pain killer)? How slow did you go? Guest guest
, I had heard from a friend that cinnamon stick tea was good for killing yeast so I started drinking it. It's very sweet and spicy and may help you get off of the diet coke. I put 4 cinnamon sticks in a glass, add hot water, leave it sit for about 1/2 an hour and drink. You can use the same sticks multiple times. I've used it for months on and off with no negative side effects that I know of. It tastes great. You may want to give it a try and let me know how it works. Both my roommate and I are trying to overcome candida. We were eating mostly the same things, but I was feeling pretty good, and she was still feeling pretty terrible. The major difference between our two diets is that I wasn't chewing 6 pieces of sugar free gum a day and she was. She got off of the artificial sweeteners other than stevia and it seemed to make a difference. We had heard a while back that eating an apple can give you the same type of energy that caffeine can. My roommate has been having half a green apple in the morning for energy and it doesn't seem to be aggravating her candida. Good luck, >From: " courtknee77 " <courtney.writes@...> >Reply-candidiasis >candidiasis >Subject: Diet Soda >Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2006 22:09:35 -0000 > >A lot of my problems, I believe, have stemmed from drinking massive >quantities of Diet Pepsi, starting about ten years ago. Guest guest
To get off the caffeine, you might want to try a tea from South America called Yerba Mate. I have been able to switch off from coffee and on to Yerba Mate without any side effects numerous times. Yerba Mate contains a molecule that is similar to caffeine but without the side effects of nervousness, over-stimulation etc. You can find it at Health Food stores - several brands also contain a non-sugar herbal sweetener called Stevia if you need something sweet. You can also find it at International Markets in its pure form as a cut leaf. It's much cheaper than coffee and much better for you too. Check it out on the web, it's very interesting stuff. __________________________________________________

" This might be the first and last time I ever say this, but: can you try drinking regular soda? Just as an immediate band-aid solution. Regular soda is awful for you, but at least it isn't neurotoxic. I'm sure there is a much better solution to the problem, but diet soda is a brain poison. Guest guest
I'm wondering if green tea might help with the caffiene thing? I do have some, but it always seems to hurt my stomach when I drink it. I've gone now two days without...so I'm hoping I can continue. Each time I crave one, I repeat the word " neurotoxin " to myself. Guest guest
If it is the caffeine you are addicted to, try substituting coffee for the Diet Pepsi and see if that helps. Coffee is also bad for you, but less so than Diet Pepsi. You can cut the coffee down slowly, or substitute tea and cut that down slowly. Good luck. Guest guest
You can switch to black or green tea, both are lower in caffeine than coffee or diet drinks. When I drank coffee, I got horrible headaches. I used to live on painkillers, not realising what was causing them. After about a month with no caffeine, the headaches had improved immensely. Drinking lots of water with the coffee did help a bit, though. Keen Re: Diet Soda Yeah I know that is really bad stuff, that's why I'm so concerned about quitting it. Guest guest
Thank you all so much for your responses. I'm sorry that I haven't been around to respond to each one, I've had a big writing project going on. The last few days have been interesting, to say the least. I decided to first switch to regular cola. Even though it has sugar and caffiene, I figured that getting off of the artificial sweetner would be important first. I cannot tell you what a difference my body is feeling already. I am positive that the aspartame was hiding something, because now I am having body aches like you wouldn't believe. I've greatly reduced my consumption of cola, and have only had one pepsi per day, vs. 4-7 of Diet that I was drinking. Emotionally, things have not been so rough as I expected they might be....I am just really physically tired. For example, last night I fell asleep on the couch at 8 pm (normally I am up until midnight). We did a great grocery shop last night and got a huge variety of vegetables and some more meats. Lots of garlic too. I also received in the mail my supplements that I ordered before I decided to get on the anti-candida bandwagon (a multi-vitamin, green tea extract and Coenzyme q10). So my next step is to cut out the Pepsi entirely, which I don't think will be extremely hard, considering I don't really like the taste of it. I have been consuming a lot more water, and some herbal teas that I have. I think I read somewhere that tea bags contain mold, is this true?
