Guest guest
The Amish call anyone outside of their community " The English " . I remember a line from the movie " Witness " with on Ford, who falls in love with an Amish woman while undercover in an Amish community.... " Be careful out among the English... Guest guest
Yes, that's true, Sondra. And it's interesting to note that " Pennsylvania Dutch " country (Lancaster, PA where the Amish live) is actually a corruption of Pennsylvania DEUTSCH.....deutsch meaning German, rather than Dutch. > most of the amish are of german speaking and or fromt hat heritage > I to > think and so they share that others are of english speaking peoples, > they are of fearful of us because to them those who are of not amish > live of sinful natures and such. > Sondra > > >

Guest guest
I don't know that sv-40 does have anything to do with autism, but I'm far from an expert. It has been associated with several forms of cancer. I cannot remember them all, I know glioblastoma, the most aggressive brain cancer, is one of them. If I can find my book " The Virus & The Vaccine " I'll look it up for you, it's an excellent, non-fiction book about polio and the invention of the vaccine. Guest guest
You have to understand the history of the area of parts of Pennsylvania and the populations of the area. It meant to beware of strangers and to the Amish families, the English were the strangers of the area and time, even to the families who broke ties with the old ways still would tell their children to beware of the English or strangers. The " English " were just the other population of the area. Many of my friends are of English descent and they very dear friends that even as a child were a positive part of the community, but the older generations repeat old ways even with broken ties. The saying was just an example to explain that I do not believe that The Amish always share what goes on in their community. I believe that if a child was born in the Amish community of Pennsylvania and was functioning autism (not having metal poison). The Amish of Pennsylvania would treat the child in a different manor than the populations outside of the Amish community. They tend to keep to their own! Guest guest
The heart of the Dutch country is Berks County! The Amish live far wider than one or two counties of Pennsylvania, that movie has everyone thinking the Amish live only in Lancaster. If you what to see the English-Amish go to Lancaster and visit the displays, but I must admit they got good food! Guest guest
Here’s a funny story about the word Deutsch. When my grandmother’s (mom’s side) family emigrated here from Poland before my grandmother was born, immigration officials had a hard time with their family name Dovadovitch. They changed it to Deutsch and that is the name my mom grew up with. So, not only did they change their family name, they kind of changed their family heritage from Polish to German, in name only. _____ From: Autism_in_Girls [mailto:Autism_in_Girls ] On Behalf Of cathylynn2 Sent: Tuesday, January 01, 2008 9:40 PM To: Autism_in_Girls Subject: Re: Re: Monkey Virus and Amish Yes, that's true, Sondra. Guest guest
My aunt's grandparents had to do similar. I forget what their last name originally was, but when the onset of WWI began they fled to the USA in Michigan & were afraid of being hunted down, so they changed their name. The funny thing is, they didn't use or . I forget the name, but it's a wierd one. I've done enough genealogy to know I've got the standard on my side, no telling about hubby's. It's said his family originally came from Australia, during the time it was essentially a prison colony. Lol. Debi
