Guest guest
Please wean her slowly. If I'm not mistaken, that's a SSRI family, which means withdrawls can be bad. Don't know how long you said she was on it, but in my op, unless that's causing her the behaviors, slowly is better. Temple Grandin stated in her book that many people with autism who benefit from medications often do so at very low levels, oftentimes a fraction of a " normal " dose. Guest guest
Shanna- I just remembered that she had some tests done prior to foot surgery two months ago and her urine test was off. I called her ped. and she said not to worry about it. I think i will have her tested again anyway. She has a decreased appetite but her drinking is increased at night. Which would result in having to pee in the middle of the night. So confused. But to stop being confused, I need to weed everything out until I find the answer. Thanks T- > Please wean her slowly. Guest guest
Deb- i agree with you I an going to wean her. we are going to do 10mgs every 3 days. so that she will be done to 40 mgs in about 6 days. Kayla has the strangest reactions to meds. She seems to need more and she also gets all the rare side effects. it sucks. > Please wean her slowly. Guest guest
T----- Not to worry.....A few simple tests and it will rule out whether it is or not in the diabetes family. But it could be anything. I don't want to worry you. No one here does. I just know how frustrating it is when you have a child acting out and you just want to help them. I PERSONALLY KNOW! Thank GOd that you have people in your family that are diabetic and can help you if she is that. If not, then have them test everything like her thyroid, pituitary, and anything else. It is merely from the same blood they are drawing. Shanna > > Shanna- > I just remembered that she had some tests done prior to foot surgery two > months ago and her urine test was off. Guest guest
I am so glad to have you all to give me ideas and suggestions. I had heard that it is very difficult to find out about thyroid problems because you would need to test all day long. My aunt has thyroid problems. I have been tested a few different times but it has come back negative. I wonder what else they could test for???? Any body have any more ideas? If I am getting blood work done I should ask for the moon. None of the people in our family that had diabetes is still alive. Children can be a true test, right?? > T----- Not to worry.....A few simple tests and it will rule out > whether it is or not in the diabetes family. But it could be > anything. Guest guest
No, it started about 2 weeks ago. I wonder if that is part of it, her body changing???? She had been off respirdol for 2 months. Guest guest
T- I agree about the thyroid testing. I have often wondered if is and has been and they might have missed it all along. Of course, when you bring that up with a doctor they say that the blood work can not lie. YEAH, RIGHT?! If your daughter had diabetes, it is very likely that if she takes care of herself, then she will live a long time. It isnt as it was a long time ago. How old were your family members that died from diabetes? You dont have to answer if this is too sensitive. My diabetic child (19) is not taking care of her self like she should and I am going to take appropriate measures this year. SHe will be on the CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) & a New insulin pump + exercise. Guest guest
Not too sensitive, It would be a great grandparent to Kayla on each side. they were both in their 70's. I can't remember who told me that about sitting in a lab all day and testing. But it was a dr. from my past. years and years ago. I hope that your daughter starts caring for herself. I know that was the reason my grandfather died was for lack of taking care of himself. He stubbed his toe and the rest is history. > T- I agree about the thyroid testing.
