Guest guest
, that's pretty normal finding. That said, however, please know that there are TONS of metabolic/genetic tests that can be run that probably weren't. It's my understanding most test for the most common types, like fragile X, Rett, a few big metabolic like PKU (even though done at birth) and maybe some fatty chain disorders. I'm only saying this to say if any problems persist, like seizure activity or big time sicknesses, then you may want to ask why a muscle biopsy isn't indicated. However, typically labs will be abnormal to warrant such a test, so if organic acids tests, amino acids tests, lactate, carnitine, etc, are all normal/fairly normal, there's really no need, at least from my understanding. And it's okay, because if she had any of the stuff they were testing her for he said it was all stuff just to know she had it, not stuff we could do anything about, or prevent..so Debi wrote: , that's pretty normal finding. Guest guest
Sometimes they miss things on EEG (even extended EEG), so if that's a concern-I admit to not being able to remember who's kids might be having seizures, I need a spreadsheet, but I admit it. Temporal and frontal lobe seizures are the hardest to catch, except for one extra deep kind that has really bizzare features that I KNOW Id remember reading about. Some absence seizures (I think your daughter might be having absences? Is that right?) live in the frontal lobe, which is of course huge. I hope that everything *IS* ok of course, but if she IS having seizures then there are at least definitive treatments for that. And oh those days long EEGs are horrendously boring. Bleeeech. I'm really glad her amino acids and MRI are normal. Guest guest
THanks..yes she was having suspected absence at home but at her preschool they thought she was having i guess some sort of seizure, they said she was jerking and twitching and it looked like the seizures that the kids at the school who have a seizure disorder have..so that is what freaked me out..but I will tell the school just to keep and eye on it.. Meanwhile, I hate that I can never sleep... Guest guest
You can sleep. If you're worried about seizure activity in her sleep, you can sleep in her bed for a bit. It'll wake you up if she is having something...though twitching while she falls asleep would be totally normal, EVERYONE does it. Of course, the scariest possibility is the one the can't give a 100% answer on. Stay rested. Your little one will be ok. Guest guest
My missy used to have of much abnormal spiking of the temporal lobes and she has been since to out grow of them or at least no EEG shows of the abnormal spikings anymore and we no longer see or catch her having of them so we now place of past history of absent seizures on her documentations for scool and places of that.
