My wonderful husband and I just celebrated our 11th anniversary and we live in Southern California. I have a 9 year old son, Tanner who is NT and an almost 6 year old daughter, Karsyn also NT and Rose (26 months) with autism. She was diagnosed at 19 months. When she was very young (about 15 months) we noticed some regression. She stopped speaking (almost entirely) and would do a lot of what I called " day dreaming " She would also not look if anyone would come in or out of the room. She would never look toward you if you called her name. We have her in a mommy and me type program 2 mornings a week and OT, Cognitive therapy, and Speech. We have seen sooo many improvements. She wants to be with us and talks a lot. She is using a lot more " original " language. She still has her " things " We are so proud of her and she is the sweetest little thing. I really like being part of this group because I hear so many points of view and advice. I think groups like this one help me to be a better mother to all 3 of my children and love them for exactly who they are! Now you know who I am. Have a good night! I to be of misdx for much of my life until age of 30's when getted of correct dx and confirmed by several mental health peoples. I to be of mom to 4 kids with Aspergers syndrome, some mild some not. I to be of married and have of a dog named Libby and a cat named Sassy and wo bunnies named of Punkin and Sweety pie. I to love of animals. I to want to have of some squirrels but the husband shared the ones I to want are of wild and not legal to capture and keep as pets. But I to love of the gray squirrls. One rare occasions I to see of an all black one ans they are of very beautiful and make me so very happy to see of them. I to be of author and speaker person on autism spectrum. I to be of set to come to louisville Kentucky this summer. It will be of a a 3 hour speak. My work is of located on the carol gray web sites, or the gray center for social learning. I to be of misdx for much of my life until age of 30's when getted of correct dx and confirmed by several mental health peoples. I to be of mom to 4 kids with Aspergers syndrome, some mild some not. I to want to have of some squirrels but the husband shared the ones I to want are of wild and not legal to capture and keep as pets. But I to love of the gray squirrls. Finlay (7) has an older brother and a baby sister and they all adore each other. We waited 5 years before we had our Rowan, which makes life a bit difficult sometimes as he is too big for a double buggy. I do not have enough hands to deal with both of them at the same time, but that will get better as Rowan grows up. Finlay still takes up most of my time - I do not have any help around the house - but the focus has shifted in a healthy way. I had some fears during the pregnancy, as we went for fetal MRI's and check ups that only caused worry because they did not have the dates exactly right. Somehow I always felt she was OK. With andra, we had a level one ultrasound at 31 weeks pregnant. We learned her ventricles were " on the large side of normal " . When she was 2 months old we had an ultrasound done of her brain and again heard " on the large side of normal " but still " within normal " . When she didn't develop normally I knew something was wrong. Upon a first visit to the neurologist we were advised that an MRI would have a 50/50 shot at detecting something. It wouldn't change anything in terms of her outcome. WRONG. My husband and I pushed for the MRI and a month later got the PMG diagnosis. I have my 20 week appt with the OBGYN (usually I see a midwife) to discuss whether we should do a level one versus level two and when. We're scheduled to do a level one tomorrow but may not go through with it if there is more to diagnose later with level two equipment. Wish us luck! Rochelle A.
