Guest guest
Marie, I am with you on this. I see books out there that say " EBAY for DUMMIES " and it is pretty thick so I shy away from buying anything on there. I have surfed around and looked at stuff on there and it seems pretty neat. Saying all that, my 19 year old and my 15 year old purchased a gameboy game (older one) on there before christmas and it arrived from Kansas and I was amazed that they knew what they were doing. Now, I do use " CRAIGSLIST.ORG " ......I HIGHLY recommend this website. It is FREE. THere is everything you could ever want on there. If you put a picture with your advertisment, you are more likely to get a quick response if you havent overpriced your item. I love it. The other day, we pulled out our old bathroom vanity. I slapped it on there with 3 pictures and in 2 HOURS....YES....2 HOURS... A lady from another town around here arrived with cash in hand!!!!! It works...One piece of advice, is that if you live in between towns (as I have friends who do) put your ad in ALL towns around you. Craigslist is separated by towns. Oh and one more piece of ADVICE for everyone on our group is if you are wanting to advertise your AUTISTM GROUPS....CRAIGSLIST has a COMMUNITY section where you can post upcoming events for FREE! Good luck! Shanna ('s mom) -- In Autism_in_Girls , " Marie " wrote: > > There must be some tricks to be able to sell on ebay, I would think. Guest guest
It's not too difficult, but the first few can be time consuming. If you sell multiples of the same thing, it becomes much easier. First, although some get away with it, Ebay reserves the right to cancel your auction or account if you are charging outrageous shipping and handling. Best key is take your cost of what you're using to ship the item in(include box, wrapping, labels, etc), add 10% to that cost for things like printer ink, then the actual cost of shipping(which is easiest if you use flat-rate post office shipping). Remember, the smallest and lightest container possible is always the best choice(like clothes can often be stuffed into the little flat rate envelopes, or sometimes it's cheaper to roll them into an even smaller manilla envelope. They come out wrinkled, but intact) Second, you want to set your minimum bid at about what it would need to be to break free(add total cost of lot plus the shipping to you, then divide by how many you have to sell, and add your seller fees). That way you're only going up. There are times when a lower min. bid will be helpful to generate intrest, but only when it's nearly guaranteed to go way up(like selling toys in November/December). If you have something that doesn't move well, you may want to double your seller fees when adding them to the min. price, just in case you have to list the item twice. Those are just the basics. As far as the mechanics of selling, Ebay will walk you through as you go. If you're selling used items from around your home(good practice), remember anything is better than nothing if they're just sitting there, so start low. > > There must be some tricks to be able to sell on ebay, I would think. Guest guest
I have sold a few clothes on Ebay a few years back and I didn't make anything. Ebay charges you for the ad and how much you charge, how much you sell it for, pictures you post. Some people switch it around so they don't have to pay ebay as much. Like you jack up the shipping fees and lower your selling price. Ebay doesn't charge you for the shipping fee. Or at least they didn't used to. Now you have to have payapl to sell so I can't sell anything But people who buy from you don't understand why the shipping is so high and don't want to buy. I don't know how people make money . It seems like ebay and the people who scam are the only ones making money. OT: question re. ebay There must be some tricks to be able to sell on ebay, I would think. I've seen things being sold for a few dollars but the S & H fees could be high. How can you make any money selling on ebay? Even with the sports shirts, wouldn't you have to price a minimum, plus have to pay to ship it? What about returns by customers? Do you put a minimum bid so you'll know you'll make enough money? Is there a " how to sell on ebay " guidebook? I'm not very computer savvy & to know the ins & outs of dealing with on line selling, so, mainly just curious in how it would work to sell things online. Thanks, -- Marie
