Guest guest
We got one a few years back for my daughter. It's a Covaid Cruiser foldable wheelchair stroller. It's a really good stroller. We went through UVA rehab center and medicaid paid for hers. There was no way I could buy her one. She has a Veil bed also that we got through them. I am not sure how you can go about getting one. It's been a few years and I can't remember what I did. But I know medicaid will pay for it. I would ask your daughters doctor. I hope you can get one. They are a big help. strollers/wheelchairs Hi have any of you purchase a stroller or wheelchair? I am going to see about getting one for my daughter, she is 9. We are totally unable to go thru a store at all--it is a total wrestling match and she gets tired and can't walk anymore. She also has scoliosis so I want something with some trunk support. I was just wondering if anybody can reccomend a brand. Thanks, ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for responding. Would your daughter move around and try to get out? I want something that she can't slip out of or break. Do you find the Covaid sturdy? Thanks for your help. wrote: We got one a few years back for my daughter. Guest guest
, When was younger (around 6) we purchased a TRANSPORT chair from our local MEDICINE SHOPPE. It was on sale for $125.00. The purpose at the time was to keep her impulsivity down. She really would run away in a store and fall on the floor and run in traffic in a parking lot. She also hated walking at Dollywood or zoos and would fall down and not get up. We stopped using it about 2 years ago (age 11). SHe will walk everywhere now and very rarely will impulsively dart off. The TRANSPORT chair is different than a wheel chair in that the rider cannot push themselves around. IT was very lightweight (something to consider) and folded up small in our vehicle. Hope that helps... Shanna ('s mom) > > Hi have any of you purchase a stroller or wheelchair? I am going to > see about getting one for my daughter, she is 9. Guest guest
We have the Maclaren Major special needs Stroller. We absolutely love it. It is very light and has nice tall handles which is great for dad. it also has a 5 point harness which I love because can't lean forward. It was very expensive but we bought it used on Ebay so we did save quite a bit and it was in like new condition. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Hi - My daughter has a Kimba Ottobock which is very sturdy and has tilt and a canopy. Also has good support to prevent or slow scoliosis. Sierra has a very high risk of getting scoliosis so it was definitely something I looked at when looking at wheelchairs. It has good shocks and wheels for different terrains. The downside is that it is very heavy to lift into my car. Also, it looks like a stroller when the canopy is on, which may not be good for a 9 yr old. But I know that whatever wheelchair you decide on, you can add as much restraint as you need. All of the wheelchairs I looked at had options of more restraint then just the seatbelt. Elaine, , Sierra (4 REtt Syndrome) and twin brother Dakota > We got one a few years back for my daughter. Guest guest
Yes, I would say its a sturdy. It has a seat belt and my daughter can get out of everything and she has never once gotten out of this one. It doesn't comfine them it's like a stroller with straps that go around there waist. It comes in different colors also. Britt got to pick what color she liked. She got a purple one. She loves it. They have ones that sit straight up or ones that have a slight slant. We have the slant one so if she has a seizure and I think it is more comfortable. It has swivel wheels in the front. It comes with foot pedals like a wheel chair but it makes it hard to turn I think so I took them off. It holds up really good too. My daughter is very distructive and just dragging it from here to there it's still in great condition and we have had our for I think 4 years. Here is a site I found that has the same one my daughter has. Check it out and see if this is the one for you. http://www.convaid.com/aa_product_cruiser.shtml strollers/wheelchai rs Hi have any of you purchase a stroller or wheelchair?
