Guest guest
Abby, they say that Enbrel works better when combined with MTX, but it works well for me without it. I can't take MTX because my white blood cell count continues to be below normal, so I am on just Enbrel, along with Celebrex. This combination is working extremely well for me, and leaves me with very little pain. Sue On Thursday, July 14, 2005, at 02:11 AM, getcoffee@... wrote: > > How many of you are on Enbrel and MTX? Guest guest
Dear Friends, It has been my understanding (perhaps a mistaken one ?) that the low-dose of MTX had to be taken in order to keep our wacky immune systens friom attacking the Enbrel medication. When I took Enbrel for a short time, I was unable to take Metho, due to the fact that the the last two times I took it, within 48 houts of the first dose- even a small dose- my liver and kidneys would come up bad on the lab work. So, I had to take Imuran instead- and we think that worked- although we do not know for sure since the Enbrel only worked for a few months and then stopped working. The question as to why it stopped working is a good one, Group founder

It is given together usually if you have RA. Anyway, anyone have any news about the new med out Hum???? or is there anyone out there taking it? Got my Remicade today and my doc gave me the option of switching to it or to Enbrel. What to do, what to do? I do have my number to start Enbrel and my insurance covers a 90 day supply for $60. It's unusual not to stay on some MTX if there is no reason not to because of the risk of a flare. But if it's working - it's a good thing not to take the MTX because of the nasty side effects. Guest guest
WOW! That is GREAT coverage. I have to cover 10% of the cost p/ month. From what I have read about Humira... the side effects are the same/almost the same as Enbrel. It is a very similar drug, but the manufacturing is easier. You inject once every 2 weeks, instead of twice a week. It will be more convenient, but I want to wait until it's out for a while before I try it. The other problem is it's not approved for PA yet, and my Dr. says it will be a while before that happens. You can certainly start Enbrel now and move on to Humira later? Guest guest
My Dr. does not like MTX for anyone with anything. He hates that he has to require patients to take it with Remicade, and told me last that he hopes that will change in the near future. However, he does believe if you have been on MTX for an extended period of time that going off of it can be worse than staying on it. Guest guest
Hi - my Dr prescribed Enbrel and did not take me off the methotrexate. I desparately want to get rid of the MTX because of the fatigue afterwards. After reading about 3 weeks of this forum, I have stopped the MTX and Celebrex and will just keep taking the Enbrel. So far I have not experienced any difference in how I feel at all so unless something happens to change that, I will continue with only the Enbrel. One of the major problems I have been having is the lack of juice! Give me some spit - give me some tears! I am hoping not taking these drugs will get these back soon. Guest guest
That's AWESOME! I just payed a $561 co-pay for my first month supply. Now I will pay $111 a month until I hit $1000, and then they will pay 100%. I am with Principal, but my insurance is covered 100% by my company, so I really can't complain. I can go to any Dr. I want to on my plan, so I do like that. Guest guest
Hi there, I am on Enbrel, Methotrexate and Arava. My newest treatment is Enbrel. It is starting to give me relief finally. I don't like taking so much medication either but we have to do what we have to do. Good luck! Corinne getcoffee@... wrote: > Hi all, > > How many of you are on Enbrel and MTX? Guest guest
Abby, I have been on MTX for awhile, first with Humira, and now with Plaquenil. It works well for me, Tawny > Hi all, > > How many of you are on Enbrel and MTX? Guest guest
Hi there, Abby. I started out on MTX alone. Then went through Remicaid and Kineret before going onto Enbrel. I was taking 25mg of MTX pills up until April. I was switched to the injection at that point to see if it wouldn't be more effective. It was. I have fewer GI side effects from the injection than I did with the pills and I also find that it is much more effective. You don't lose as much of it through digestion if you take by injection. The combination has been VERY effective. Don't expect the pills to be effective overnight. It takes time for MTX to build up in your system...Marina
Guest guest
I was actually taking MTX by mouth as the first treatment option and was switched to MTX injections when the pills didn't work. Then, the injections weren't working by themselves and that's when he added enbrel in addition to the mtx. I felt almost an immediate difference! The two meds work so well together for me! I do my enbrel injection on friday mornings and mtx injection on saturday mornings. It's really not that bad! Good luck. diana louisiana --- getcoffee@... wrote: > Hi all, > > How many of you are on Enbrel and MTX? Guest guest
Abby, I take both, allthough I have not been on Enbrel but about a month. I feel great other than my frozen shoulder being sore. I seem to feel better with more energy.I hope this helps. Beth(AR) --- getcoffee@... wrote: > Hi all, > > How many of you are on Enbrel and MTX? Guest guest
I've been on Enbrel since 1999 and will be starting MTX injections next week. The injectable form has been backordered, so I've had to wait to get it. I finally got it yesterday and will be starting on a low dose on Monday. I too don't want to take any more meds, but the combo of MTX and Enbrel are showing the greatest success, so I'll try it. a On Jul 14, 2005, at 2:11 AM, getcoffee@... wrote: > Hi all, > > How many of you are on Enbrel and MTX? Guest guest
Hi I have been taking MTX and Enbrel for a few years and my joint deformity and progression of disease has slowed quite considerably. I have actually gone skiing in Aspen Colorado! I have my moments with heat and humitidy...other than that, I wake each day with little to no pain and stiffness. Good luck- Side effects of meth, 2.5 mg, 4 dose, once a week is fatigue. Sometimes headache. I am 34 years old, Kim getcoffee@... wrote: Hi all, How many of you are on Enbrel and MTX?
