Debi I was just telling how smart is! Glad she is part of this

group. When I feel a little better I will have to head over to the health food

store and get that stuff she is talking about and do the test.

No hernia's. Just reflux at this point. Although I really don't have any

heartburn or anything, just frequent sore throats. My mouth and throat are

often

dry as well, have tested negative for Sjograns. Think might be on to

something.

Hi Pennie,

Is this for you? Hubby? Abby?

What is is being prescribed for? Ulcer? GERD?

I've got input, but just want to know some more details first, if

that's ok. If it's private you can e-mail me offline.

pennie i to be fof prescibed of this and not had any sides to it except

that for me tums works faster and better for me than nexium as you have

to take it for a long time for it to really to begin to work. I to take

it for acid reflux and heart burn as the doctor shares but in true my

heart does not feel as though it is of burning, but still that is of a

medications I to have to take but dont.

Pennie,

Did you know that the symptoms of low stomach acid are virtually the

same as too much acid? Then taking acid reducers only makes the

problem worse and can contribute to other health problems as well.

Here is a good article about it. You can test yourself at home to

see if it's really low acid that's your problem. Just buy Betaine

HCl caps at the health food store (preferably ones with papain or

bromelain).

Take one capsule before the last mouthful of a main meal. Burning or

indigestion means you have plenty of hydrochloric acid. Don't take

any more tablets. Use antacid or teaspoonful of bicarbonate to

relieve any discomfort. If no burning or indigestion, next day take 1

capsule in the same way. If still no burning or indigestion, the next

day take 2 capsules in the same way. If still no burning or

indigestion, then you need more acid. There are other tests for

stomach PH but they're all invasive. So if you need more acid, then

you take 2 betaine hydrochloric acid capsules (or more) with main

meals and 1 capsule with small meals.

Now.... if you determine that you do indeed have too much acid, then

of course, knowing me as you do, I have an alternative to Nexium for

you. :-)

cathy the other things I to learned is of that the acid of the stomach

can also be caused by the gall bladder? and so for that the taking of

nexium might not repair or help with any things unless on e discovers

of the core of the problems. this is of why for me had of the upper

scope and the lower scope of done to rule out things, and had of ultra

sound of the gall bladder and kidneys to see if there was of any damage

to them or illness to them. they were of okay so it is of for me the

acids is from other sources yet for me not aware of the other causes of

it yet. this was of all I to learned of it so far because of own health

issues. I to know of several foods that seen to cause of it to be more

so am of larning to avoid of them. one is of tomato sources for me and

or certain tart things like lemon. and or vinegar.
