Guest guest
That is GREAT news! Way to go Beth! And good for her for wanting to eat healthier and exercise. Does she get the pull up on her own, or ask you for it? I'd start with having her ask if she doesn't already (might need to move them where she can't reach...she doesn't need to verbally say it, just indicate that she wants it however she usually tells you she wants things). Then when she's asking consistently, start having her only use the pull up while she's IN the bathroom. Then work on sitting on the potty still wearing the pull up. Some kids have a hard time learning to go while sitting...if she usually stands or crouches, that might be the case for her too. So learning to poo while sitting, but still having the comfort/security of the pull up is a good baby step. Just move in small increments toward the final goal...getting there slowly usually works better in the long run anyway. I've even known some parents who had their kids sitting on the potty in a pull up with a hole cut in the back...but I'd skip that unless you think she really needs it Amnesty

Guest guest
She usually just gets them on her own, but she is pretty verbal so if she can't reach for them she does ask. When she was about three, she was very constipated and she went to the potty and the splash of water just freaked her out.She started screaming and crying and since that day she has gone in a pull up. I have tried saying that I don't have anymore pull ups, but then she will go days without doing # 2 and thats even worse. But she does go standing up. So I am going to try what you said little by little. It's worth a try, Thank you very much!! > > > > My daughter is 6, she only uses the pull up to do # 2. > > > > Everynight at about 7:00 she grabs a pull up and does #2, I have sat > > with her in the bathroom the most was for about 45 minutes until she > > fell asleep on the toilet. > > Does she get the pull up on her own, or ask you for it? Guest guest
Is it possible that she doesn't like the sound the toilet makes when it flushes. My daughter really objected to that. I learned to wait until she was out of the room to flush. Now at 16 she closes the toilet lid, pushes the flush handle and bolts from the room. Guest guest
I know for a fact she doesn't like that flushing sound, when she flushes the toilet she covers her ears and runs out the bathroom door. Very sensitive to sound. Guest guest
I feel that the noise was a concern for us in potty training so we just made it a point to never flush when she is in the bathroom.
