Guest guest
Costochondritis. And it is absolutely NO fun! Shandi [ ] Pain in chest (bones) Can RA affect the bones in your chest also? I have been having alot of pain in my chest and right rib cage and when I lift or use my arms the chest hurts worse. Its not like my heart or anything, it's in the bones. Thanks! Guest guest
The place where the ribs connect to the Sternum are considered a joint by the RA. I know that for a fact because I had bad pain from it during one phase of my RA adventure. I asked my Rheumy about it and he agreed that it was considered a 'joint' because the connection is into cartilage (soft tissue that RA loves). The only part of my body that hasn't been directly affected by RA is my jaw joints. Everything else has had it's fun with me. Guest guest
I read on google about costochondritis and mine isn't quite the same. I usually get it for a couple days then it goes away. Mine doesn't hurt by taking deep breaths either. Just when I move certain ways or touch the area. I think that is a good thing considering. > > Costochondritis. Guest guest
Thanks Dennis, the only part I haven't had affected is my jaw as well. I forgot all about that being a joint. LOL Hope it doesn't happen in the future either. I haven't even had this a year and everything is affected except that. Still trying to keep the faith though. > > The place where the ribs connect to the Sternum are considered a joint by > the RA. Guest guest
: Unfortunately, yes it can, and it is affecting the connective tissue in the breast cage and ribs - I think there is something called costochondritis that might explain your pain. I have heard that it is very painful too. You should call your doctor as soon as possible and be seen for this, okay? Perhaps some Prednisone burst might help decrease your pain. Guest guest
The reason I don't think mine is pleruisy when it happens is because mine only lasts about 3 days and then goes away. > >> >> > >> >> Can RA affect the bones in your chest also?
