Guest guest
Hi everyone! (see me waving like a crazy woman?) IF research were done on Stills disease and twins, scientists would most likely be interested only in identicals since fraternal twinning is in effect absolutely the same as polling families with more than one child. Fraternal twins are exciting, fun, work and so forth the same as identicals BUT, genetically they are only two seperate people from two seperate eggs who happened to be born on the same day. They are not more genetically predisposed to the same issues than any of your other siblings. Identicals, on the other hand, share an identical gene pool since they come from a single egg that typically split between the 10 - 13th day of gestation. Conjoined twins are identicals whose egg began splitting after the 13th day and the split was not completed in time to keep up with the rapid development of the fetus. A clinical research study on Identicals might prove very interesting. My son in laws grandmother technically was the one who figured out that cancer ran in families way back when. I spoke with her last week. When she got cancer, she told her doctor's that it runs in her family and he argued with her. She presented all the facts of who has what and he did a paper on her in the medical journals. His paper was what alerted the world that cancer can indeed run in families and is not an isolated incident related particularly to an individual although habitat, work environment and behavior are very much contributing factors. The reason I said that is because to a large degree, the Stills Disease Foundation IS a research link. We have the largest single pool of Stills patients. The information we gather among ourselves and present to the right individuals can change how Stills patients are viewed and treated. A poll on diseases siblings have might be enlightening too. I'll speak to some doctors about it. I have some great ones in my loop of contacts. How many IDENTICAL twins do we have here? Anyone been keeping count? I have some calls out to important folks right now for a project I am working on. I'm going to ask a few questions in my current research project and see what happens. I'll keep you posted. Great Idea! Thanks. Smiles, Caroline Empress Of CUS (Beautiful Southern Oregon, USA) We may not be able to change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails. May you have enough happiness to make you kind, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy. --------------------------------- Yahoo!
