Guest guest
Hi Larry: It's good to see you posting again! Sounds like you have found your niche at school. I can truly understand your feelings about working with these special children - my son teaches a class of autistic children, some high functioning and some very low, and he has been bitten, kicked, screamed at, spit on, you name it, but he absolutely loves these little children. He was the first para educator (as he is called) to stay more than two weeks with these kids - they were the class nobody wanted. He stayed. He has been with autistic children now for two years, and is still eager to go to work each day to see what changes he can help these children to make in their lives and how they deal with society. Those that were untouchable to begin with, now run to him and hug him. The work is hard, but the rewards, as they say on the commercial, are priceless. I am so glad that you have found a way to give of yourself and be a teacher again. I can see that this has given you so much fulfillment and a reason to get up in the mornings, despite the pain. All of the things you have gone through have lead you to this - all the struggle, pain, depression, loss, was to bring you to these children. You are a very special man, Larry, and I know that you will give these children 100%, but they will give and teach you sooo much more. I am so happy that you are happy again - you speak words of wisdom here - we should never take life for granted as every day is a blessing.
