Guest guest
I've never heard of Emu oil being used for joint pain, but I suppose I would try it. I use Emu oil on my dog's to grow coat! LOL. It's expensive stuff, but very good. I'll try rubbing some oil on my joints and let you know if I feel anything different. As for jaw pain, yes I used to suffer really bad from jaw pain, but since I've had the majority of my teeth pulled, the jaw pain has dissipated. The only problem I have nowadays with my jaw is grinding my bottom eight teeth into my bare naked gums. Not fun and I'm going to have to get a mouth protector to prevent myself from making my gums bloody. Which leads me to the possibility that those of us with jaw pain and that have not been dx with TMJ, I have a sneaking suspicion that we have the tendency to grind our teeth when we are asleep and that would be part of the reason we have the joint pain in the first place. It makes sense to me. When we deal with so much pain, it maybe that we are taking it out with our mouths and jaws. Anyone else agree? Much love, Terry
Guest guest
Hi Katy I've had TMJ pain for a past few years. My dentist made me a mouth guard which worked well. My jaw hurt a lot for the first 2 years, but now just clicks in and out if I bite hard or open my mouth too wide. It's not as painful, perhaps because it's slipped in and out so often that it's worn down. I am told that TMJ pain is common with Stills, or Lupus, as I have. Can't help with the other questions, although I do have twitching/ jerking in my hands etc, but I have recently found out it is due to syndrome, which means the blood doesn't flow as efficiently as it should to my brain, amongst other places. Aspirin has helped, but I don't advise you start without seeing you doctor. Love to all Caroline no. 2 (UK) > Hello all, > > Firstly, welcome to all the new people. Guest guest
Katy, Have not heard of emu oil used for joint pain, but know it is used for inflammation elsewhere. As for jaw pain, many of us have that. MY PT has been doing massage on my jaw to help loosen it up, I get terrible headaches from the jawpain too. Let us know how the acupuncture goes, I have always wanted to try it but cannot afford it, I have heard it can take several sessions so you might have to give that time too, Lynn -- Emu oil (and a few other things!) Hello all, Firstly, welcome to all the new people. I don't tend to post much but I 'lurk' regularly and keep up to date with all the news. This is a great place to pick people's brains. Talking of which.......has anyone tried Emu Oil for joint pain? I've been reading lots about it recently and it seems that many people have found relief with it when rubbed on their joints. Anyway, the RD knows how bad things get without the pred so she's re-assessing me on 15th March. Things are flaring badly again at the moment so I'm hopeful that I'll get enough 'points' to qualify this time. I've got a session of acupuncture booked next week. I'm not sure whether it will help but I'll give anything a go at this stage. Anyone tried it? Hope you're all hanging in there. Take care everyone. Guest guest
Please, do keep us posted on this! I've been trying Reiki. It's very relaxing but doesn't seem to be helping with the Still's. I've been thinking about acupuncture...haven't heard from anyone who has tried it, but my local acupuncturist says she has worked with a lot of patients with Lupus with great success. in Maine I've got a session of > > acupuncture booked next week. Guest guest
Hi , I know of a person here locally that is having Acupuncture to help her be more managed with RA. She says it is helping her so much with the pain and stiffness. I would do this too if my health insurance paid for it but it won't. in Oregon > > Please, do keep us posted on this! Guest guest
Agreed, Terry! I have TMJ, and didn't begin grinding my teeth until after becoming sick. Perhaps it is how we deal with pain at night while sleeping. During the day, I believe we may clench our teeth during the day without realizing it, too. Massage does help. So does a mouth guard fitted, usually, to the lower teeth. As for acupunture, I tried it for several months once. It didn't provide any relief for me, but was incorrectly diagnosed at the time. I wouldn't discount acupuncture. Just because no relief was found here doesn't mean it will not help others. In Peace, Barbara

I have had acupuncture when my shoulder and elbow were really bad. When my rheumy administered acu, he also followed up with physical therapy. In fact, he would insert the needles into various parts of my arm and then attach them to electrodes where electric stimulation was administered. For me, it worked really well and I was out of acute pain very quickly. However, when I first began this journey with the good old dragon, my rheumy would not allow me to have acupuncture because of something to do with my muscles. I can't remember the exact reason. I can remember being very disappointed, but since my rheumy is from China, I figured he knew best. I trust his judgment and the man has kept me together pretty well over the last eight years. I don't know what I would do without him. So, that's my take on acupuncture. Take care. Much love, Terry
