Guest guest
Hi Sam I don't know about having a cortisone injection in the hip to obliterate pain in the ankle, but I had one in my knee when it was so painful I felt it wouldn't support me when I was walking and it was fantastic the pain went completely that was approx. 7 months ago and fingers crossed, the pain hasn't come back yet. Also my husband had one in a frozen shoulder when nothing else helped and that was successful as well so they are very popular in our household. Hope if you decide to have the injection it will help you but then everyone is different in how they react to it so wish you all the best that you will be pain free. Take care Love Joan UK Cortisone Shots? Hello Everyone... Has anyone ever gotten a cortisone shot to help alleviate pain? My ankle pain is getting to the unbearable point, I refuse to increase prednisone again and my next Remicade is still 3 weeks away. My doctor has " authorized " a shot in the hip (? to help the ankle?). I am hoping my primary care doctor can do it in the morning, saving me a 4 hour round trip to the rheumy's office. I have heard the shot itself is really painful... Has anyone had successful pain relief from one of these shots? Guest guest
Sam, There have been times when only a cortisone shot would do. Mainly in my knees, but also my chest for Chostochronditis (sp?) that was a bit painful. The knee has 3 shots as a rule one to freeze it a bit, one to drain the fluid, and then the cortisone. I have gone from almost completely incapacitated to able to walk again, within hours of the shot. I wonder about the shot being administered to your hip to help your ankle, sounds kind of strange, but I can only assume the docs know from whence they speak. So, let us know how it all goes. smiles and regards Cat Sam Rocci wrote: Hello Everyone... Has anyone ever gotten a cortisone shot to help alleviate pain?
