Does anyone have any personal experience with accupuncture, with yourself or

your children? I'm wondering how this may help to detox?

thanks for any input

I have taken my kids in for acupuncture-- I had gone for some back

pain and got to talking with the guy who felt he could help with my

son's complaints of burning stool, and my dd who just never seems to

go bm on her own. The acupuncture points and herbs DID get rid of my

son's burning stool problem... my back pain went away-- I learned

what points he was using and I massaged them myself at home. Now, I

am free from that burning pain in my back--had it for years. For my

dd, acupuncture DID result in her having a bm within hours of getting

the treatment. For kids, they just put the needle in and out very

fast. No pain.

So, while we did not do it for " detox " specifically, I guess what I

am saying is that yes, I would expect it could help with body/liver

support and detoxing. Now, if you're talking about METAL detoxing--

I'm not sure about that.

Also, I would think twice about using chinese herbs-- with our kids

weird digestive systems, it may not work-- at least what the guy was

doing for my son did not work. THe herbs stayed in his digestive

tract undigested and made him really hyper and wild.

Hi Tina,

I have gotten accupunture, done on myself, for several years.

From maybe about 4 different practitioners (or maybe it is 5).

I went every week for a long time, then every other week.

I like it and think it is very useful. I have not tried to

use it for mercury detox, and do not know if there is any

way to do so effectively. My current accupunturist is

aware of my chelation status. I think accupunture is good

for balancing body systems, and, in a general way, this

is helpful for detox. But I don't mean metals specifically

there, and am not saying anything specific otherwise......

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a system of viewing the

organs and how they rely on each other, so there is often

an emphasis on supporting whichever area is " weak " .

Ask questions if there is something else I could tell you

about my experiences...

best wishes,

Moria

Meg, I don't have RA but what my rheumy calls " unspecified auto-immune

arthritic disorder " - which means I'm odd, no dx really fits but

there's definitely a problem! Anyway, I've been having acupuncture

for almost 4 years now, my insurance covers up to 40 treatments a

year. My internist is also an acupuncturist. I was desperate and

ready to try anything when a friend recommended her. The treatments

gave me pain relief when nothing else did. As my rheumy finds a combo

of meds that work, I've been needing the acupuncture less, but I

really look forward to it. I walk out of there feeling so much

better!
