Guest guest
, Stop the self-sabotage immediately. I know how easily one day turns into one week and one week turns into one month, which, in turn, leads to a 10 pound weight gain. Don't feel guilty, but analyze WHY you turned to food for comfort this weekend (the talk with your hubby, perhaps) and get right back on the wagon. Guest guest
Thanks Dani, I know exactly why I bombed so bad this weekend. But I've recognized it, and I know how to stop it this time! Normally, this would spell the end of it for me, but since I'm looking at this as a lifestyle, not a diet, I don't feel nearly as pathetic as I normally would. Thanks for the pep talk! > > That was the sound of me falling off the body for life wagon. > > Ugh... A minor setback, yes, but I'm still angry with myself. Guest guest
Good for you , for talking with your husband and for not allowing yourself to fall into that downward spiral we all know and hate! Your weekend binge will not have a dire effect on your challenge if you get right back on program today! Park Ouch! That was the sound of me falling off the body for life wagon. Ugh... A minor setback, yes, but I'm still angry with myself. I managed to get to the gym friday night, but it all went downhill from there. I had a good talk with the hubby Saturday, things still look bleak, but I feel a little better having discussed things with him. So I felt sorry for myself most of that day, I went out to the movies with some friends and decided to eat a burrito and a chocolate bar for dinner...at 10 PM. Don't bother seeing the Transporter. Rent it if anything, and only if you have the hots for the lead actor. (like me, I'm a sucker for his accent!) I made dinner for our friends Sunday night, and pigged out on everything I shouldn't have, and drank too much wine. Monday was leftovers, although I didn't eat much, it was all carbs. Hubby and I went for a 3 hour walk though, so I got some exersize at least. Needless to say I'm going to stop feeling sorry for myself the minute I click the send button, and I will be on track! I didn't even pack a lunch for myself this morning... And I had been so good about that! I'll head to the grocery store on my lunch break. Guest guest
Hi Crystal~ My shins hurt every once in awhile and sometimes even when I am not on the treadmill. It is normally on my right leg on the right of my shin. I haven't figured out why this happens so I will look forward to hearing what some of the ladies have to say about this. from Alabama AND new to BFL > Hello, > > Last night I had cardio and MAN was it tough. > I thought I was going to puke afterwards. Guest guest
Sounds like shin splints to me. I don't know what if any treatment there is for them beyond anti inflammatory agents. Hopefully when your fitness level increases they will go away. It might be a good idea to reduce the treadmill incline if you use that feature. Hope it gets better. Guest guest
Thanks Stasia, There was no incline, so I thought maybe incline would help, but maybe not. I did find that way back, when I was taking coral calcium the leg pains decreased signifigantly when I was just walking so maybe I'll try that. S Bachrach wrote: > Sounds like shin splints to me. Guest guest
--- Gosh..it could be both shaun..bad form and heavy weights together. the heavy weights causing the bad form. sometimes if I am doing to heavy for me..it causes bad form just trying to lift things. you may have just used too much weight you were not ready for? I think you should be better after a week..things like that take a week for me to see them gone. I get things like that sometimes. I would say avoid that exercise. how will cardio work for ya? Guest guest
It could be either one. Last week, I did plie (sp?) squats, with the legs a little further apart and toes turned a litlte outwards to work inner thighs a bit more and I overestimated my strength <G>. I was sore for a good week, and it felt similar to a muscle pull but I could still walk. This week I lowered the weights and it felt great. Hope you're feeling better soon! Guest guest
Your only other choices besides nonsteroidal anti inflammatories would be narcotics and I'm not going to advocate that(my own addiction issues). Go ahead and take about 500mg of Ibuprofen twice a day to see if this helps. Aspirin might also help if you don't have stomach problems because of it. After awhile this sort of pain will probably not occur to the point of needing medication. Stasia
Guest guest
Massage! Not that relaxation crap but a real massage. Find someone that does sprots, theriputic or medical massage. Make sure they have a good education in massage, at least 700 hours & from a good school. Might also want to try a chiropractor. Where is the pain? muscle, bone, join. Does it hurt all the time or when you move it? If you want to get a massage let me know, I will help you find one. Guest guest
Sorry i had to laugh soo funnny but only if its not u tight, hope ur ok now and was just little excitment ehh.Acually its great how this support group thing works i needed that laugh in worst way today was one those stressful days at work.Kinda.Can only say thank god its friday take care. d.Canada Ouch! I spoke too soon. This is from the strange but true files.... I was vacuuming behind a living room chair around noon. had left a can of bear spray there that she takes backpacking. I knocked into it with the vacuum....spraying the top of my foot and the scar that popped a leak from edema last week. At first I thought it was my imagination, feeling a cold spray on my leg. Then I started choking. I ran out the back door, with and the dog on my heels. was installing new kitchen countertop, started choking and ran out the front door. Then my eyes were stinging and watering so bad I couldn't see. started the ATV for me and we went out to the field. Once the choking was more manageable, I realized my foot and ankle were on fire. I used the intercom every few minutes to see if had gone back in the house. Finally he answered and I zoomed back in on the ATV. I ripped off my clothes and that started the bear spray fumes up again! Jumped in the shower and shampooed from head to toe. While I was in there, Zeke dog ran out the back door because forgot to close it after taking out the old countertop. He got on the intercom in her van and told her to catch Zeke. She nabbed him running up the trail towards the road ;-o and Zeke bounded in the door just in time to hear a big thud. I fell into the wall around the bathtub and broke it! I thought all the excitement except my burning body parts was over. I sat at the computer, still choking, unable to move. Zeke started quivering and choking and threw up under my chair ;-( I guess bear spray doesn't agree with him, either. OUCH!! (wsm311@...) Guest guest
You might want to invest in some Glutamine. Guest guest
Hi a, I know that had to smart, but I had to sort of chuckle when I read that you hit it on your couch because I could see myself doing that... in fact, I've done a few things that COULD'VE hurt me, but didn't and I laughed at MYSELF afterwards ... for example ... when I first started using my ball I fell over and landed on my basset hound, he just kinda moaned and walked away lol. Another time I wasn't looking down at my step and almost fell flat on my face. We all do those things, but hey, we keep going. BTW, I love Gilad, but his newer workouts are just too easy. I wish I had Fit TV so I could tape some of his shows. Can anyone tell me what his cardio is like now on his shows? He use to be on ESPN, but not anymore, I can't get any show of him period now Anyway, sorry you hit your foot, didn't mean to sound insensitive if I did. ~*~*~**~*~*~
Guest guest
Awww, hope your foot feels better! Darn that couch for being there! - From: a [mailto: paulajfrey@...] Date: Tue, 27 Jul 2004 21:30:09 -0000 Subject: Ouch! I did NAC Interval Challenge today since we were talking about NAC videos. There is a move where you alternate fast lunges to the rear and while executing them I kicked the crap out of the couch by accident. I finished the workout, but my foot is still smarting. The couch on the other hand appeas to be fine. _______________________________________________ No banners. No pop-ups. No kidding. I've also not paid attention in tight spaces and have punched the wall during Taebo. a > Hi a, > I know that had to smart, but I had to sort of chuckle when I read that > you hit it on your couch because I could see myself doing that... in fact, I've > done a few things that COULD'VE hurt me, but didn't and I laughed at MYSELF > afterwards ... for example ... when I first started using my ball I fell over > and landed on my basset hound, he just kinda moaned and walked away lol. > Another time I wasn't looking down at my step and almost fell flat on my face. > We all do those things, but hey, we keep going. > BTW, I love Gilad, but his newer workouts are just too easy. Guest guest
Tom, Thanks for the advice. I don't seem to be giong to have any reaction to it, since shock should have kicked in pretty quickly. The swelling is minor and I can bend my finger almost normally. The actual pentration site of the stinger is a little tender though and doesn't like being touched. Part of the problem is where it got me. It stung me right on the pad of the little finger of my left hand, right where it would hurt the most. Still, it could have stung me on the top of my head instead and was probably trying to when I swiped it off. I'll go put some alcohol on the sting site right now. Guest guest
, Believe it or not, it sounds like you actually got lucky. Most wasps, having smooth stingers, can sting as many times as the want. If you've only gotten stung once, then you lucked out. If I were you, I wet a tissue with alcohol and rub it back and forth over the wound to kill any germs or bacteria the wasp might have gotten injected with the venom. If you aren't allergic to the venom, then the potential for bacterial infection is actually the greater of the two risks posed by wasp stings. Tom Just looked out the front door to check on the squirrels and something landed on my head. I reached up to swat it away and ended up getting stung! It was a great big wasp that followed me into the house. Its dead now though. Getting some nice swelling on the fingertip where it got me though. I've already used something to try to suck out the venom and have had a cold compress on it. About to go and put that back on there again for about 20 minutes like this webiste I looked at said. Also be keeping an eye out for anaphilactic shock, but that should set in within 30 minutes or so if it is going to happen.
Guest guest
Inger, Its actually doing pretty well. I kept the ice pack on it for about 30 minutes but when I took it off it started to sting again and the nearest joints hurt, so I but the icepack back on for another 20. This time it still stung when the ice was removed, but I just toughed it out. After about 5 hours the swelling was down enough to where I could curl my finger all the way again. Right now there is no more pain on bending my finger and no swelling. It also hasn't hurt to touch it or type for a few hours. The sting is also looking better, just that red "gash" but the red spot around it is shrinking. I've got a pic of it posted. The devils did come back to the nest for a while but I think I got all of them. I'll take a pic of that in the morning and post it. Thanks for the concern. Guest guest
How is it now? I got stung by something a few weeks ago, in the leg. Possibly a giant wasp too, not sure what it was. It caused a huge red itchy, painful swelling, big as a hand. I was really alarmed and went to the doctor. But a few days later it was OK again. Inger OUCH! Guest guest
Glad to hear it's better. Wasp bites can be really stingy!
