Guest guest
According to her last dexa scan, my 77-year-old Mother is at high risk for fracture. She has been on steroid therapy since August. MTX was added In January at 10 mg., and one month ago was titrated up to 15 mg. Because that combination doesn't seem to be controlling her RA, her rheumy just recently prescribed Enbrel to be added to the other medications. She has not yet started it pending insurance approval. It is difficult to ignore the possible side effects from it and gather the courage to add this medicine, even though we have read how it has helped so many here. Because she is unable to tolerate Actonel or Fosomax, her rheumy is now also recommending Forteo. I wonder if anyone here uses Forteo, and what your response to it may have been, as well as what side effects, if any, you may have been experienced. She is concerned about the warning on the label. However, the Dr. said that the lab rats were given a higher dose than a human receives. Because of its fairly recent approval by the FDA and the label warning, it still causes concern; but then again, so does the risk of a fracture. There are so many anxieties associated with RA. I am sure all of you understand them all too well. --------------------------------- Get amazing travel prices for air and hotel in one click on FareChase
