Guest guest
Hi Stilligans, I hope this note finds each of you doing well, or doing your best to get better. I saw my rheumy yesterday...just for a check up. I'm relatively stable right now on my Kineret and Arava cocktail. I even successfully weaned off Pred.....for now. Lol. Anyway, I had to show the doc my huge bruise.....he called it hematoma, from a fall I took in the yard last week. My left ankle folded over, and my left knee (5 surgeries) buckled and somehow my husband said it looked like a cartwheel. I landed on my head, but the back of my thigh had a pretty nasty impact with a wheelbarrow. Hence my huge and bloody red/purple bruise. So the rheumy takes off my shoes and starts moving my ankles only to tell me that they feel like " Gumby Ankles " and put me into ankle splints. Now, I'm a good sport, and I have been for seven years now, but I have decided I have WAY TOO MUCH VELCRO in my life. I now have Wrist Splints, Ankle Splints, Knee braces and immobilizers....too many to mention. I mean, I need a closet just for the splints. And the velcro is supposed to be easy but it makes me crazy. They all stick together (or to anthing else nearby...carpet, sweaters, bedspreads) and each one seems to have at lest three straps that intertwine and wrap around in some intricate plan to keep my joints together. I swear, if I wear them all (like I am supposed to) I look like I am going bowling and cross county skiing at the same time. I know it is for my own good. I know I should be thankful that I have good medical care and the technology to keep me somewhat mobile....but I just had to vent. Thanks for listening.
