Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for your note telling me I should be on a regular schedule with Neurontin. Didn't know it had a short half life. Since you take yours 5x day, doesn't that keep you drowsy? I don't want to be that way. My rheum gave me mine for sleep. But I do agree I should take it during the day, too to keep the drug in my system. My rheum's nurse told me to contact them 3 days after starting N. But the N web site said it takes at least a week to get it used to my system. So I haven't called him yet. Monday I wll let him know my concerns. hugs, Debbie L > > > Neurontin has a very short half-life. Guest guest
HI Debbie, It took me awhile (definitely longer than a week) to get used to the woozy feeling I got from Neurontin. But I gave it some time and worked up slowly to 300 mg for each dose, and now it works very well for me. It doesn't make me feel sleepy. In addition to taking away the pain and tingling from peripheral neuropathy, it helps keep my muscles relaxed. I have a lot of trouble with spasms in my back, and it's been a great help for that. My daughter (who was 25 at the time) took Neurontin also for PN; however, she took a dose that was twice as high as mine. The doctor told her that for some reason, younger people can tolerate higher doses than older people (I was 50 when I started taking it). Good luck! I hope it helps. Guest guest
Hello Debbie~ I too take Neurontin. I am on 2700 mg a day. I take it three times a day for seizures and now my Rhuemy thinks that it may help my pain. I have been on it since August and I still get whoozy; not as badly as I did when I first started. It has helped my Epilepsy and I am not sure about the benefits for my RA/SLE. I know that a lot of people I have spoken with feel the same way after taking it; I take so much other medication that it is hard to say exactly which one makes me feel dizzy....not that I am not ALWAYS DIZZY....LOL. Good Luck and keep in contact with your doc and let him know what you are feeling. , PA > Didn't know it had a short half life. Since you take > > yours 5x day, doesn't that keep you drowsy?
