There is no point in suffering.

If you can get it.

Use it.

Particularly at night before bed.

Turn off that stupid stress inducing TV

Turn on the nice soft music,

take a hit or two

turn off the lights

and snuggle up.

Sweet Dreams.

I have written to all my senators and representatives and all I ever got

back from any and all of them is a stupid, thoughtless, empty, ignorant " form

letter " stating the " evils " of marijuana use and " public policy " .

Some form letters pointed out that there is " no medical evidence " supporting

its effectiveness.

Yet all the medical evidence I have read states otherwise. Particularly the

European studies indicating that the compounds in THC actually reduce the

inflammation associated with arthritis.....

IF ONLY, these ignorant, reckless, thoughtless, incompassionate politicos

should live in our bodies for a few weeks....

(Acually we all know it would only take a few hours for them to get the

message, but I'm a mean ol' redneck)

My family and friends know that I use this alternative form of pain

management and they ALL support it.

I've always said, if I get busted I'll take it all the way to the Supreme

Court....if can get there, so can I.

This subject came up last year and someone said it would take only a drag or

two to make a difference in pain level. I managed to find some brownies and

I ate a couple of pieces. Apparently they were made using a boxed mix and a

handfull thrown in dry. It did nothing for me painwise. I still have them in

the freezer because I'm too lazy to throw them out. Does it make a

difference in how it's injested or what?

I have nothing against marijuana morally or ethically. However, as

one with asthma, I wouldn't smoke ANYTHING. I would be concerned

that while the other properties of marijuana might or might not be

helpful, that it might not be wise to smoke something when we have a

disease like RA which we know can affect the lungs, and also take

meds that can adversely affect the lungs.

I was told indirectly by my rheumatologist that it was very helpful for a lot of

her patients and it is the most helpful for me as well. My rheumy also told me

that it is one of the best things for inflammation. For those of us who have

lungs problems it's definately not a good idea, but for me who has never had a

chance to be in remission as of yet, it has hslped me keepo my sanity. Holly

I agree, . Smoking anything, tobacco or marijuana, is probably not a

good idea if one has RA or another rheumatic disease.

Not an MD

: You are right. It may not be " wise " to smoke w/ RA but I

suppose " wise " depends on one's perspective. I would much rather have

a shorter but much better quality of life than a longer, drawn-out

poorer, agonizingly painfilled, miserable quality of life. I think

said it best: 'I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry

with the saints.' To each his or her own.

In reality it's much better if you eat it, the effect is less phsycological

and there's no damage to your lungs.

Marijuana is a classic example of politicians getting involved in

things that should be the realm of scientists. It hasn't been very

long that politicians relented and have allowed research to be done

on marijuana.

As far as people using it as a 'gateway' drug into deadlier drugs.

I've worked with clients who were addicted to heroin, cocaine,

alcohol, crystal meth, marijuana and a myriad of other drugs. I do

not see that happening, I do see it with crystal meth and people into

experimenting with drug in general recreationally. If I have to work

with a client on drugs, I'll take the pothead anyday, even over the

alcoholic who is abusing the legal drug of alcohol. People using

marijuana just tend to be nicer. Longer term, heavy use of marijuana

does tend to make them a bit forgetful or it could be that they were

that way to begin with.

California, where I am from, does have 'legal' medicinal use

marijuana. The DEA doesn't see it that way and busts the shops

regularly. Yeah, like a bunch of cancer patients are a threat to the

moral fiber of society. Like I said in the beginning, it's a classic

example of politicians getting involved with something that should be

the realm of scientists.

If lung disease was a quick and easy way out, I might agree with

you. But having seen it, it's a long and miserable way to go. Not

a trade-off I'd want to make.
