Hi Jim:

Welcome to the group! That is great you are hunting

for support for your wife and yourself. The people in

this group are very caring and there is always great

information supplied by our moderators.

We have all been where you are now. Everything is

going so well, and then bam! the RA heats up again and

you feel like you are back at stage 1. I also have

fibro and OA, a lot of us do.

What med was your wife on prior to this flare? Did

the doctor just start treatment now with Plaquenil? I

was on Plaq for about 2-1/2 years with good result,

but as the med became less effective and the RA flared

up, I changed meds several times. I am now on Mtx and

Enbrel and doing well on that combo. Perhaps your

wife's doctor will be discussing biologics if the Plaq

or other DMARDs do not help. Enbrel has been a

blessing to me.

As far as pain relief, is she on any

anti-inflammatories or pain meds, even Prednisone

would ease her through this major flare. I use rice

socks which form nicely to joints, heating pads,

massage pads, and hot showers. But I also am on other

meds too, like pain meds, muscle relaxants, for my

fibro, and that helps too with the RA pain. Is she on

any fibro meds?

I hope that sometime you wife can come on and chat -

we are a very friendly group and are very supportive

of each other - we are like family. She is already

blessed by a supportive husband, and she is a very

lucky lady to have you trying to find her some help.

Take care -
