Guest guest
Hi all, I looked up my meds in my drug book. Amitirptyline, carisprodal and Flexeril all have insomnia for a possible side effect! Zanaflex doesn't though. These are the only meds I looked up. , can you research this? Thanks Pat for straighten me out on RLS. Debbie L

Guest guest
HI , When I found out amitriptyline and two muscle relaxants cause insomnia I thought other arthritis meds might too. I don't know much about muscle relaxants so I don't know why they cause insomnia. Usually my Soma makes me drowsy but Mon and last night it didn't work. It's ok if you can't look into this confusing info. thanks, Debbie L --- In , " " <Matsumura_Clan@...> wrote: > > Specifically what would you like to know, Debbie? > > > > > Not an MD > > > > >

Guest guest
Debbie, There are many, many drugs which list insomnia as a side effect. Also, in a person taking several drugs, it is hard to determine which drug is the culprit. It could even be an interaction between two or more drugs. And it may not be the drugs at all. I've sent a few articles which may be of help. Guest guest
You're right, . A lot of drugs -- prescription and non- prescription -- can cause sleeplessness, and it's unique as to which cause problems for a particular person. For example, I've found that I have difficulty sleeping if I take Tylenol too close to bedtime because I just lie there in a stupor unable to get to sleep until the Tylenol wears off. --- In , " " <Matsumura_Clan@...> wrote: > There are many, many drugs which list insomnia as a side effect. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I do take at least 12 different meds. It's hard to keep up with the side effects though. I left a message with my rheum's nurse about my insomnia. When I first saw him he stressed sleep is very important for fibromyalgia. That's why I called him because thanks to insomnia, my muscles are stiff or cramping up. Just took Soma. It is very discouraging when a doctor doesn't know what causes my symptoms. My rheum is very good though. Thanks for the articles. They were helpful but one looked like an organization to join. Don't think I need that yet. Myabe later I look up Restless Leg Syndrome and see if it tells that arthritis patients are prone to it. Several people answered my post telling me about their RLS. hugs, Debbie L --- In , " " <Matsumura_Clan@...> wrote: > > Debbie, > > There are many, many drugs which list insomnia as a side effect. Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for the great information. I really do appreciate it. Since I take over a dozen different meds, it's hard to keep up with the side effects. Sometimes I'd rather not know. Earlier today I left a message with my rheum's nurse about insomnia. When I first saw my rheum he said sleep is very important to a fibromyalgia patient. He also has a list of all my meds in the computer. There was interesting information in one of my fibro books. It said it's better to take meds as often as doctor allows, at least 3x day. I don't usually do that since I run errands after lunch. Now y muscles are tight and spastic and hurt when I them. Will let you know what my rheum says. Debbie L --- In , " " <Matsumura_Clan@...> wrote: > > Debbie, > > There are many, many drugs which list insomnia as a side effect. Guest guest
Debbie, It's good that you have a call in to your physician. If you mean the link to the American Academy of Sleep, no, you don't have to join to be able to read the information there. You can't see everything that members can, but they have a lot of interesting sleep-related information. You can read abstracts of journal articles on sleep if you check under " Publications. " " Other Resources " takes you to other links that may be of use. Not an MD [ ] Re: insomnia information > Hi , > > Yes, I do take at least 12 different meds.
