Guest guest
Carol, Welcome to the group. There are so many different medications out there that are effective for the RA Hopefully you are getting a good rheumy and he will get you on something that works for you. I must confess that I have never had good luck with the pain meds, all they really do is mask the pain and sometimes not too good at that. If you are able to take prednisone, it is often the " lifesaver " for short term use while they find something else that works well long term As for being tolerable? If you get on good meds it can be very tolerable. It never goes away, and sometimes it takes time to find the right meds. Keep your spirits up and pray for the good outcomes. We have all been where you are. Jeanine
Guest guest
Hello Carol, This is Steph in VA. I'm 29 y.o. and was dx'd (diagnosed) with RA in 1999 when I was 22. I can't help you with a rheumy referral. I've seen rheumys in PA, NYC & DC/VA/MD. My current meds are: Sulfasazine, Prednisone, Ibuprofen, Methotrexate, Flexerill & Remicade. Remicade has been great for me! I've been on it since March 2000. I have also tried Vioxx, Celebrex, Naproxyn & Enbrel. I've also taken Vicodin for severe pain, mostly before I was dx'd & last year for a week after I was in a car accident. Remicade has put in what the rheumy calls a medication induced remission. Winter is pretty hard on me but it has been pretty mild this season until recently. Take care, Steph in VA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ " Never underestimate the power of a small, dedicated group of people to change the world -- indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
