Guest guest
Hi Amy, Even if you test come back Negative you can still have RA. I would go to an RA doctor before you have damage you can not reverse. Take care. My hands have begun hurting again, and I wondered what constitutes mild versus moderate pain in the RA world. I've been taking 500 mg of Relafen 3x a day for the last few days. It helps a little but not much. I have been taking 25 mg amitriptyline every night (for the last 2 months) but I still wake up with pain in the middle of the night. I have a high pain threshold and do not like to take ANY medication. (btw, all tests came back negative for RA so I am taking the " wait and see " approach). That said, if I'm damaging my joints, and this pain is already at a level that suggests a rheum. visit, I will get on it. Any thoughts? Just want a perspective other than mine in case I am just being a whiner. ha ha Amy in CO
Guest guest
I have the same pain and my RA came back negative so my doctor chalked it up to Raynaud's syndrome you might look into that....... Guest guest
If you have a high pain threshold and you are in pain despite the Relafen and it's bad enough to wake you in the night I would call that moderate pain. I have very bad pain, to the extent where all I can do is lie in bed and cry - scream if someone tries to touch me. But I have a low pain threshold, so I also consider that moderate. I am on 500 mgs of Relafen twice a day, and it does help sometimes, but the majority of the time I am in pain so bad I almost can't work (desk job too!). I am also extremely fatigued. I have a Rheumy appt on the 17th. My GP said I HAVE to go. I had a negative RA factor and my SED rate was fine, but he says I can still have RA and he's been right with four other diagnosis'. Please go see a rheumy before you get any worse, while you can still do something to protect yourself against damage.
