Guest guest
Hi : Thanks for posting. My rheumy did not do the test you mentioned. He's basing the diagnosis on my labs results, 'cause my last SR test was completely normal. But, I've done some research about fibro and I don't think that's my problem. I really think all my pain issues are due to " stills " . Plus, fibro, (as far as I know) doesn't affect your internal organs, does not give you spiking fevers, rash, etc, and I had all those when I was in the hospital (I was very sick for 2 weeks before getting in the hospital and ever worse the 12 days I was in there because they didn't know what I had). And on top of that, I've been feeling better since he put me on pred, and that medicine doesn't work for fibro. I don't know, I'm gonna wait 'till the next appointment and see what he says. Thanks again and God bless you, Jackie Jackie, Don't you just love the " I don't know answer " . Personally, if the doc needs to say I don't know, I prefer if he follows up with, but we are going to find out. Has your rheumy done the tendor points test for fibro? What is he basing his diagnosis on? Bottom line, if you are not happy with what he has said to you, try to speak to him again and say that you don't understand and really feel you need to understand what is going on in order to help yourself. And if you still aren't happy, maybe try to find another rheumy. It utterly amazes me how many doctors think that we don't need to know what is going on with ourselves and that we don't need to be an active part of our own health care. Especially when dealing with chronic conditions, doctors need to explain to us why they are diagnosing the way they are, why they don't know, what the possibilities and options are, and make sure we understand what they are saying to us. I just don't get it. We do all know how you feel after that appt Jackie, unfortunately it's all too common. Let us know if you get more answers. Guest guest
Jackie, Write up a list of questions before your next appt. That way you have all your questions about fibro ready. I have found this works well for me and I won't leave the doctor's office until my entire list has been discussed. Let us know how the next appt goes. And as someone said here, the medications are supposed to make our labs normal, so your Sed rate going back to a normal amount should have happened. I'm also someone who only had the sed rate out of range and while it's in range now, my rheumy never said, okay, it's not stills now.
