>>>I would imagine that visualizing the body healing itself would also be

wrist where the bones are fused together. I will try it on other parts that are

more muscle/tissue-related pain. It can't hurt, right?<<<

Hi Joanne,

Thanks for replying and to everyone else who replied to my question about trying

visualization to heal. I'm backpeddling through emails here as my internet has

been down, but am grateful to hear so many are open to the concept of

self-healing.

The mind is such a powerful thing and actually you can reply to your brother in

law that he's right! Pain receptors in the brain do control how we feel and

respond to pain. However, there is also the notion that the body is holographic

in nature - ie. that every cell in the body retains the same information in the

shape of our genetic codings, including our levels of pain tolerance, etc. The

real question is, where is the mind and what exactly is it???? We assume it is

located in the brain, but is it there only? It's not exactly a tangible thing!

That is to say...every cell in the body has a consciousness of its own, so does

he mean that consciousness = the mind? If so, the mind exists in every part of

our bodies, not just our heads....deeeep thoughts. LOL

When trying out the visualization technique, be sure to visualize the outcome

you desire...maybe sitting in the doctor's office and being told your RA is in

remission - whoa, wouldn't that be the best?! Consider how you'd feel hearing

such news - elated, joyful, relieved....then surround your visual with those

emotions. You might experience a tingling sensation throughout your body or a

deep sense of peace. It only takes a few moments to do this each day....or

whenever you catch yourself sinking into negative thought patterns when the pain

is bad. This is challenging, but try deep breathing at the same time...like

lamaze (sp?)technique for childbirthing and breathe the positive outcome into

the joints that hurt.

You're right, it can't hurt to try this and, if nothing else, awareness of

negative emotions helps with depression and all that creates in our bodies.

Peace, n
