Why don't people ask to be on different meds?

Nelliestar:

In my case, I've only had RA for 8 weeks and have been on MTX for six weeks.

I've done a

significant amount of research on my own about the various medications (I

learned during

years of having Fibromyalgia to be my own advocate). It seems to me that every

medication has one side effect or another and sometimes, those side effects ease

with

time and use. Sometimes the benefits of the medication outweight the side

effects.

Sometimes, I'm not even sure if a side effect " is " a side effect (i.e. I'm in

menopause and

get migraines, anyway).

In my instance, my terrible headaches last the day after the injection. I want

to weigh that

side effect with the benefit of the medication. At the same time, I want to

discuss with my

rheumatologist the side effects and get her opinion whether we should add

something to

the mix to help with my hands.

> Why don't people ask to be on different meds if they make you miserable?

> There are many, many meds that work for different people.

> I suspect people are afraid to speak up to their MDs and just say NO.

> Don't put up with that!

> As I said earlier, I won't even accept a med that makes our pigs suffer!

> I refused both Mtx, SufaS. and Plaquinal. (sp)

> I also asked for REAL pain killers and sleeping pills.

> If you have a problem with your doc, find another one.

> It makes me sad to see people suffer this way. RA is bad enough...
