Hi Arrow,

Some say fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue are one and the same.

There are some studies that lean toward the HHV-6 virus as being the

root cause as well as some say a bad polio vaccine is the root

cause. HHV-6 is a nasty virus that infects a wide range of the

body's cells, including brain, immune and endothelial cells.

I've noticed cfids, fibromyalgia, candida overgrowth & gluten

intolerance all have a lot of the same symptoms. Over the years of

observing and contributing on various lists the one thing I've

noticed they all have in common is a need to heal their gut to

achieve healing. No matter what the sorce of the toxin build up is,

the gut seems to be where the healing begins.

Jordon S. Rubin has a really good book called, " Patient Heal Thyself "

that goes into the importance of gut health. He recovered from an

extreme case of chrons. Says most all disease start in the gut.

Calls it the second immune system and also the second brain. Really

good reading.

Diet is critical. Sometimes it's as simple as a food allergy. Know

of one woman with fibromyalgia that went to a homeopathic doctor who

narrowed it down to an allery to the coffee bean. As simple as

that. She made a complete recovery as long as she stays off coffee.

However, more often than not, it will take any where from 6 to 12

months of proper diet and probiotic supplements to heal. The diet

Jordon recommends is eleminating the junk first of all and going back

to pretty basic things like protein grass-fed red meat, omega-3 eggs,

veggies, fruits, fish, fermented milk/yogart as well as veggies,

little to no gluten foods for the first 6 month to a year. Also,

recommended is extra girgin coconut oil as well as cod liver oil.

Pretty simple really. Certainly worth a try.

Hi Arrow,

No, the HHV-6 virus is not vaccine related as far as I know. I think

it's just a virus one comes in contact with during childhood that

then goes dormant but remains in the body kind of like chickenpox.

From what I've read, 95% of the population is infected with it.

After primary infection, the virus establishes latency. It appears

to persist in peripheral blood monocuclear cells, salivary glands &

the central nervous system. If you've ever had roseola, that is the

HHV-6 virus.

Jordon states in his book that it is ONE of numerous causes of

cfids. It probably does boil down to an overload of toxins in the

body no matter where those toxins come from.

I have heard of a study being done in Phoenix, Az. on fibromyalgia,

where they take a lot of stuff away from the patients. Can't

remember what the underlining thing was that was causing so much

trouble for the people with fibro, but it was in a multiple of things

like lotion, etc. Sorry just can't remember what it was. But the

results were favorable when the people were very careful to avoid

that product.

Other than that, I don't think there has been any new treatment. And

I have to give some of them credit where they have really made

efforts to try and understand the cause of possible treatment of it.

There are some supplements people seem to benefit from as well as

diet.

Hi Meredith,

My rheum recommended the Fibromyalgia Help Book which is very

informative and useful. Also have the Arthritis Foundation's Complet

Guide to Healthy Living with Fibromyalgia. It is excellent also. I

always check my books first before trying to find something on the

net. Both can be found at major bookstores. & Noble carried

both of mine.
