I have to get Alyssa healthy first, but YES, lets meet at the butterfly

house at the zoo or somewhere fun.

She's been " off " (something not quite right, a headache here, awake in

the middle of the night there, but no fever and she's eating just fine)

again this week. This morning, she was swallowing really hard and I

noticed her tug on an ear. Her throat looks like strep this time. I

called the ped. Ped agreed, looks like strep throat, but the rapid

strep came back negative. She has an ear infection in the ear she

tugged on. We've been battling eczema on her face since early November,

and we had it under control and this week it flared again, and the ped

said it's eczema plus impetigo. Am glad I didn't send her to school.

Impetigo is highly contagious.

I've lost count of the number of days of school she's missed--and I have

to wonder about the role of indoor pools. Last year, all three of my

kids got sick after starting swim lessons at the Y, at an indoor pool.

And they stayed sick. We had strep for 10 weeks, two of my kids were on

5 antibiotics, one was on 3. Anyway, Alyssa started getting sick this

fall after she visited an indoor pool with her class at school. They

often go as a class on Fridays. Maybe it's anecdotal, but two of our

pediatricians say it's highly possible that she's getting " sick " germs

at an indoor pool.

I wonder if her headache is easier to tell me about because it's more

concrete than sore throat (you can't touch deep in your throat) or ears

(you can't show mom down in your ears)?
